  • Chris Godwin WR | TB

Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Another absence from practice

Godwin (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Godwin has begun the 2025 campaign with back-to-back DNPs, seemingly implying that he's trending toward an absence Sunday in Atlanta. He's in the later stages of his recovery from the dislocated left ankle that he suffered Week 7 of last season, but by avoiding the reserve/PUP list last week, he's been given a chance to be available at some point in the first month of the season. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not the Buccaneers rule him out for Week 1 action, but rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka is poised to be top WR Mike Evans' running mate for as long as Godwin is sidelined.

  • Darnell Mooney WR | NYG

Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Iffy for season opener

Mooney (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

After having his reps capped for the second practice in a row to kick off Week 1 prep, Mooney told Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com that he would likely be a "game-time decision" for Sunday's tilt with the Buccaneers. Unless he can upgrade to full participation in Friday's session, Mooney appears set to take a questionable tag into the weekend, and official word on his status may not arrive until the Falcons release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If Atlanta elects to hold Mooney out for the season opener, more reps at receiver would be available for the likes of Ray-Ray McCloud and KhaDarel Hodge.

  • Jayden Reed WR | GB

Packers' Jayden Reed: Limited in return to practice

Reed (foot) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Reed got back on the practice field after sitting out Wednesday's session, which may be his maintenance plan for the foreseeable future due to the Jones fracture in his left foot that he's been dealing with for roughly a month. Coach Matt LaFleur told Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com that the Packers "absolutely" will give Reed a chance to make himself available Sunday against the Lions, but at this point he seems destined to head into the weekend with a questionable designation for that contest.

  • Isaac TeSlaa WR | DET

Lions' Isaac TeSlaa: Limited in Thursday's session

TeSlaa (illness) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

After the Lions gauged him as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report, TeSlaa returned to the field Thursday, though it didn't translate to an upgrade in terms of how the team listed the extent of his activity. In any case, the rookie wideout is expected to be ready to make his NFL debut Sunday in Green Bay, though he'll probably need to upgrade to full participation in Friday's practice to avoid carrying a designation into the weekend.

  • Keon Coleman WR | BUF

Bills' Keon Coleman: Another limited practice Thursday

Coleman (groin) remained a limited participant at practice Thursday.

With Coleman having logged two straight limited practices, the wideout will likely need to work fully Friday in order to avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Ravens. If Coleman is out or limited this weekend, Elijah Moore (personal), Curtis Samuel and Tyrell Shavers would be next up for added opportunities at receiver behind Khalil Shakir and Joshua Palmer.

  • Jakobi Meyers WR | JAC

Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Beneficiary of Cooper's retirement?

Meyers, who is still seeking a contract extension with the Raiders, appears further entrenched as the team's No. 1 receiver following the announcement of Amari Cooper's retirement Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Meyers expressed uncertainty about the odds of he and Las Vegas reaching agreement on a long-term extension after Wednesday's practice, but the retirement of Cooper -- who inked with the Raiders last week -- could benefit him both in terms of projected target share and contract leverage. Though Las Vegas can lean on star TE Brock Bowers in the passing game, the team now has little in the way of proven contributors at wideout behind Meyers. Tre Tucker tallied just a 47-539-3 receiving line while playing all 17 regular-season games last year, while rookies Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech have yet to handle a regular-season snap. Meyers requested a trade late August and said Wednesday he doesn't intend to hold out, but negotiation leverage may have swung in his favor ahead of Sunday's road matchup against the Patriots.

  • Texans' Braxton Berrios: Second straight DNP on Thursday

Berrios (hamstring) isn't practicing Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Berrios and Christian Kirk have both sat out consecutive practices due to hamstring injuries, putting their availability in jeopardy for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Rams. Rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel could be on track to operate in three-receiver sets alongside Nico Collins, and Noel could also get a chance to return punts if Berrios sits out.

  • Amari Cooper WR | LV

Raiders' Amari Cooper: Announces surprise retirement

Cooper announced Thursday that he does not intend to play for the Raiders this season and is instead retiring from the NFL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Cooper signed with Las Vegas in late August and appeared primed to immediately operate as a key pass catcher for the team, but the veteran wideout has instead decided to hang up the cleats just ahead of Sunday's regular-season opener against the Patriots. In the wake of Cooper's retirement, Tre Tucker, Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech are positioned for increasingly key roles behind No. 1 wideout Jakobi Meyers, with TE Brock Bowers still the focal point of the Raiders' aerial attack. Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Cooper's abrupt retirement relates to difficulties he experienced ramping up after spending most of the offseason unsigned.

  • Chiefs' JuJu Smith-Schuster: Could be key piece early

Smith-Schuster could be counted upon for an expanded role in Friday's regular-season opener against the Chargers, Bobby Kownack of NFL.com reports.

Smith-Schuster, Hollywood Brown and Tyquan Thornton are all candidates for significant action Friday. Those receivers are next in line for opportunities behind Xavier Worthy while Rashee Rice serves a six-game suspension to begin the season, and rookie fourth-round pick Jalen Royals (knee) has been ruled out. Smith-Schuster had only 231 regular-season receiving yards with Kansas City in 2024, a far cry from the 933 he managed in his first year with the Chiefs in 2022.

  • Hunter Renfrow WR | CAR

Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Listed as starter on depth chart

Renfrow is listed as a starter on Carolina's first unofficial depth chart of the regular season.

Renfrow re-signed with the Panthers on Saturday after being released on cutdown day. He spent training camp with Carolina and is set to operate in the slot while Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette work on the outside. Renfrow's ascent up the depth chart was spurred on by the Panthers trading fellow veteran slot receiver Adam Thielen to Minnesota and Jalen Coker (quadriceps) going on IR.
