Black is missing Monday's practice due to an adductor injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Black now is one of three 49ers running backs tending to a health concern -- also, Jordan James (ribs) and Isaac Guerendo (pectoral) -- leaving Patrick Taylor, Sincere McCormick and Khalil Herbert to handle reps behind No. 1 option Christian McCaffrey. A third-round pick in this year's draft, Black will have a prime chance to compete for the direct backup role once he's healthy, especially since James is out indefinitely with fractured ribs.

Evans (quad) won't practice Monday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

With Evans now dealing with a quad strain, the 49ers are banged up at wideout at the moment. On top of Ricky Pearsall's (knee) placement on IR, Christian Kirk is dealing with a calf injury, while De'Zhaun Stribling is managing hamstring tightness. For now, consider Evans day-to-day ahead of the team's Aug. 13 preseason opener against the Titans.

Coach Mike McCarthy has asked Rodgers to play in the Steelers' first two preseason games, according to Michael Silver of The Athletic.

As the report notes, the veteran QB last saw significant exhibition-game action eight seasons ago, but Rodgers indicated Monday that McCarthy "(wants him out there for) 30 or 40 plays." On that topic, Rodgers told his coach, "If you want me to play, I'll play. I'm not saying I want to do it. But if he wants me to, I will." The Steelers' preseason opener is Thursday, Aug. 13 against the Packers.

Tremble (knee) returned to practice Monday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Tremble sat out of Friday's practice while dealing with knee soreness, but he's back on the field to start the week. The 26-year-old is coming off a career-best 2025 season where he recorded career highs in receptions (27), yards (249) and targets (37) over 17 regular-season games. Tremble is headed into a contract year after signing a two-year extension during the 2025 offseason and is expected to once again share primary pass-catching duties at tight end with Ja'Tavion Sanders.

Coach David Canales said that Pickett is slated to start Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Cardinals, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.

Per Reed, none of the Panthers' key starters are in line to see action in the contest, a group that presumably includes QB Bryce Young, WR Tetairoa McMillan and RB Chuba Hubbard. Once Pickett gets his share of reps Thursday, look for rookie UDFA Haynes King to get some work in versus Arizona's reserves.

Coach Andy Reid noted Monday that he expects Allen (shin) to return to practice later this week, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports.

The same applies to fellow WR Xavier Worthy, who is dealing with a sprained shoulder. Allen suffered a shin bruise on his left leg during Saturday's training camp practice, but based on Reid's comment Monday, it's not a serious issue for the 2026 fifth-rounder. Once Allen is able to work fully, he'll continue to compete with Tyquan Thornton and Jalen Royals for depth chart slotting behind Rashee Rice and Worthy.

Black was waived by Detroit on Monday.

Black was expected to compete for a reserve role in Detroit's crowded wide-receiver room, but he was unable to stay on the roster before the opening preseason contest. The 28-year-old has only played one career regular-season game, which came with the Jets in 2021, and has largely bounced around various practice squads, including most recently with the Dolphins in 2025.

Coach Andy Reid noted Monday that Worthy, who is dealing with a sprained shoulder, needs "a day or two" before returning to practice, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Initial reports after Worthy left Saturday's training camp practice due to his shoulder injury were that the wideout had avoided a serious issue, and Reid's comment on the matter Monday supports that notion. For now, consider Worthy day-to-day as the Chiefs' Aug. 15 preseason opener approaches.

Muse signed with the Lions on Monday.

With Tyler Conklin (knee) on the active/PUP list unable to start training camp, Detroit needed more depth at tight end. Muse played 16 regular-season games with Minnesota from 2022-24, but he spent last season on the practice squads of the Rams, Cardinals and Eagles. The 27-year-old projects to compete for a reserve role at tight end with Anthony Firkser and Jackson Meeks over the coming weeks.

Gibbs (back) was present but not in uniform for Monday's practice, Nolan Bianchi of the Detroit News reports.

When asked when he thinks he'll return to the practice field, Gibbs -- who has yet to take reps during training camp as he reportedly holds in for a new contract -- the running back said "only time will tell." Per Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com, coach Dan Campbell noted last week that Gibbs was dealing with a "little bit of a back" issue that cropped up during conditioning tests, but on Monday, Gibbs declined to comment on the reason for his absence. For his part, Campbell said this past Thursday that he's "not even sweating" Gibbs' situation, but until his star back re-takes the field, added practice reps will be available for Isiah Pacheco, Sione Vaki (eye) Jacob Saylors, Jabari Small and Kye Robichaux.
