  • Bruins' Mark Kastelic: Pockets assist Sunday

Kastelic registered an assist and four hits in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Islanders.

Kastelic signed a three-year extension with the Bruins on Friday to solidify his place in the team's bottom six. He snapped a seven-game point drought with the helper Sunday, though he remains fairly limited on offense. The 25-year-old forward has a career-high 12 points with 48 shots on net, 76 PIM, 158 hits and a plus-4 rating over 41 appearances, serving as an enforcer while averaging 11:26 of ice time per game.

  • Wild's Frederick Gaudreau: Leaves practice early

Gaudreau left Monday's practice early due to an illness, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.

Gaudreau still has time to recover before Tuesday's matchup against St. Louis. He has registered seven goals, 16 points and 60 shots on net across 40 appearances this season. If Gaudreau and Mats Zuccarello (illness) can't play versus the Blues, Minnesota will need some reinforcements from the AHL.

  • Bo Horvat C | NYI

Islanders' Bo Horvat: Nets two goals in OT win

Horvat scored two goals, including a shorthanded tally, and took three shots in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Bruins.

Horvat found the back of the net just 3:22 into the game when the Islanders were shorthanded, tying the game 1-1, and later scored the game-winning goal 3:10 into overtime. Horvat, who has three goals over his last four games, is up to 12 goals and 29 points across 39 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Canucks' Dakota Joshua: Deemed week-to-week

Joshua (leg) is week-to-week after landing on injured reserve Monday, according to Thomas Drance of The Athletic.

Joshua sustained the injury in Friday's 3-0 loss to Nashville. He has contributed two goals, four points, 10 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and 83 hits across 24 appearances this season. With Elias Pettersson (undisclosed) unlikely to play versus Montreal, Jonathan Lekkerimaki will replace Joshua in Monday's lineup.

  • Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Unlikely to play Monday

Pettersson (undisclosed) is doubtful for Monday's road game against the Canadiens, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports.

While head coach Rick Tocchet said that he'd check on Pettersson after the Canucks' morning skate Monday, Tocchet also said that he doesn't think the 26-year-old will be able to return to action against Montreal. Assuming Pettersson is sidelined, Jonathan Lekkerimaki could enter the lineup after being recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Monday.

  • Canucks' Dakota Joshua: Designated for IR

Joshua, who suffered an apparent leg injury against Nashville on Friday per The Vancouver Sun, was placed on injured reserve Monday.

Joshua's IR designation was retroactive but he'll still be out of action for at least the Canucks' next three games. Prior to getting hurt, the 28-year-old winger was mired in a seven-game point drought. With Joshua on the shelf, the Canucks recalled Jonathan Lekkerimaki from AHL Abbotsford in a corresponding move.

  • Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Turning corner?

Zibanejad picked up an assist in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Zibanejad was held off the scoresheet in eight consecutive games to close out the month of December, but he's started the new calendar year with a three-game point streak. He's accounted for two goals, one assist and a plus-3 rating in that span. The right-shot center has struggled in 2024-25, but he has a track record of producing in the regular season, and given his start in January, fantasy managers should remain patient. Zibanejad has logged eight goals, 24 points and a team-worst minus-19 rating through 39 appearances.

  • Frank Nazar C | CHI

Blackhawks' Frank Nazar: Manages helper in loss

Nazar notched an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers.

In a glimpse to the future, Nazar set up Wyatt Kaiser on the Blackhawks' second goal. The 20-year-old Nazar has a bright future, but he's taking his lumps in a bottom-six role during his first chance at being a full-time NHLer. He has just two helpers to go with 10 shots on net and a minus-5 rating through 11 appearances this season. Hold onto Nazar in dynasty and deep keeper formats, but managers in redraft leagues can likely look elsewhere.

  • Rangers' Jonny Brodzinski: Draws in, scores goal

Brodzinski scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Brodzinski took the place of Chris Kreider (upper body) in the lineup Sunday. It paid off almost immediately, as Brodzinski's goal tied the game at 1-1 at 15:12 of the first period. The 31-year-old forward has frequently served as a healthy scratch or emergency fill-in when the Rangers are down a forward. He's at three goals, two assists, 22 shots on net and a plus-3 rating over 17 appearances. His lack of a secure spot in the lineup makes Brodzinski too risky for most fantasy formats.

  • Lightning's Brayden Point: Adds power-play helper

Point logged a power-play assist, two shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Ducks.

Point has a goal and five helpers over his last five games, with three of those assists coming on the power play. He's still yet to be held off the scoresheet in consecutive contests this season. The 28-year-old center has 23 goals, 22 assists, 19 power-play points, 77 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over 33 appearances in a top-line role.
