Justin Bour 1B | SF
Angels' Justin Bour: Out for third straight game
Bour is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.
The Angels are opposing a left-handed starter (Ryan Carpenter) for the third straight day, relegating Bour to the bench once again. It's clear at this point that Shohei Ohtani and Albert Pujols will serve as the team's designated hitter and first baseman, respectively, versus left-handed pitching, but it's less certain if Bour will find himself in the large side of a platoon with Pujols now that Ohtani is back from the 10-day injured list. Bour has historically crushed right-handed pitching, but he's hitting just .153/.238/.306 (50 wRC+) in those matchups in 2019. Pujols, meanwhile, sports a .197/.297/.342 (77 wRC+) line versus righties.

C.J. Cron 1B | BOS
Twins' C.J. Cron: Blasts seventh home run
Cron went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Cron took Trent Thornton deep in the third inning for his seventh home run of the season. He also collected three other hits on the day -- all singles -- for his first multi-hit game in 10 contests. Cron has already blasted seven home runs this season and batted predominantly fifth in the Twins' order, putting him in a strong position to drive in runs.

Nate Lowe 1B | CIN
Rays' Nate Lowe: Returns to minors
Lowe was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Lowe's first stint in the majors was short-lived, as the 23-year-old wound up making just nine appearances for the Rays, slashing .257/.289/.314 with a pair of doubles and 2:10 BB:K in those contests. This move frees up a spot on the roster for Austin Meadows (finger), who is expected to be activated from the injured list ahead of Friday's series opener against the Yankees. The 23-year-old Lowe figures to rejoin the Rays again at some point later in the season, but he'll toil away in the minors for now.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: Takes seat Wednesday
Guerrero is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Twins.
Guerrero is slashing just .162/.244/.189 with one RBI through his first 10 games as a big leaguer, so he'll head to the bench for Wednesday's series finale as he looks to hit the reset button. Brandon Drury is covering third base in his stead, with Billy McKinney picking up a start in the outfield as a result. With the Blue Jays off the schedule Thursday, look for Guerrero to rejoin the lineup for Friday's series opener against the White Sox.

Justin Bour 1B | SF
Angels' Justin Bour: Remains on bench
Bour is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers.
Bour will stick on the bench for a second consecutive game with another lefty in Matthew Boyd toeing the rubber for the Tigers. With southpaw Ryan Carpenter slated to start for Detroit on Thursday, Bour may be stuck on the bench until Friday. Albert Pujols is starting at first base and hitting fifth.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Launches grand slam
O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a walk, a grand slam and a second run scored in Tuesday's 12-2 rout of the Astros.
His third-inning blast off Collin McHugh ended up being the first of two grand slams by the Royals on the night. O'Hearn's .202/.317/.385 slash line and four homers in 32 games remains lackluster, but better days could be ahead -- his 17:28 BB:K and .233 BABIP suggest he's been unlucky rather than overmatched in the majors.

Matt Olson 1B | ATL
Athletics' Matt Olson: Returns from injured list
Olson (hand) was reinstated from the injured list as expected Tuesday.
Olson made it just two games into the season before suffering a broken hamate bone. He should resume an everyday role at first base now that he's healthy. Skye Bolt was optioned in a corresponding move.

Yuli Gurriel DH | SD
Astros' Yuli Gurriel: On bench Tuesday
Gurriel is not starting Tuesday against the Royals, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Gurriel sits after starting 10 of the last 11 games. He's hitting just .176/.208/.294 over his last 13 contests. Aledmys Diaz gets the start at first base.

Justin Bour 1B | SF
Angels' Justin Bour: Sits against southpaw
Bour is not starting Tuesday against lefty Daniel Norris and the Tigers.
Shohei Ohtani's (elbow) return from the injured list pushes Albert Pujols into a platoon with Bour at first base. Bour could get the majority of the starts as the lefty in that pairing, but with three straight southpaws on tap this series, he may be stuck on the bench until Friday.
