  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Drives in two in loss

Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Pasquantino appears to be taking inspiration from teammate Bobby Witt -- this was the former's second three-hit effort in the last three games. Pasquantino has gotten to turning around his season in July, batting .304 this month, though he's still lacking in power with a .377 slugging percentage over 17 games in that span. For the year, the first baseman has a .258/.320/.425 slash line with 11 home runs, 66 RBI, 44 runs scored, 23 doubles and two triples over 99 contests.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Could start rehab games this week

Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Thursday that Casas (ribs) has been taking full batting practice and could be ready to begin a rehab assignment by the end of the week, Chris Henrique of MLB.com reports.

The Red Sox have given mixed messages on the status of Casas' progress in recent days, but Breslow's statement Thursday certainly qualifies as the most favorable update that's been offered. If Casas is indeed ready for rehab games in the coming days, he could have a shot to return from the 60-day injured list by early or mid-August. The first baseman has been sidelined since late April with a cartilage tear in his left ribcage.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Tigers' Mark Canha: Moving to bench Thursday

Canha is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.

Canha will cede his spot in the lineup to Zach McKinstry, who gets the nod at third base while Matt Vierling shifts to the outfield. After going 0-for-22 over a six-game stretch from June 25 through July 2, Canha has bounced back over the ensuing three weeks, slashing .306/.390/.500 over 11 games. As a veteran on an expiring contract, Canha could be a prime candidate to get moved elsewhere ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline while the 50-53 Tigers likely find themselves in the sellers camp.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Goes deep in win

Walker went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Royals.

Walker launched a solo shot off Michael Wacha in the top of the fourth, going back-to-back with Joc Pederson to give Arizona a 3-1 lead. It was the first baseman's 23rd long ball of the campaign and his first since July 4 against the Dodgers. Walker has also driven in at least one run in the last two games, bringing his RBI total up to 17 in the month of July.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Padres' Luis Arraez: Getting rest Thursday

Arraez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

The Padres are closing out their series in Washington with a day game after a night game, and the Nationals are bringing a lefty (Patrick Corbin) to the hill, so San Diego manager Mike Shildt likely decided that it was an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Arraez a breather. Unless he's used off the bench, Arraez will put his six-game hitting streak on hold and will cede the designated-hitter spot to Manny Machado on Thursday.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Homers, four RBI in win

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the White Sox.

Lowe gave the Rangers the lead for good, delivering a run-scoring single in the fifth inning, then ended matters with a three-run home run in the eighth. He's hit safely in five of six games since the All-Star break, going 6-for-19 with two homers and five RBI. Lowe is batting .266/.356/.390 with eight home runs, 42 RBI, two steals and 36 runs over 81 contests.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Drives in winning run

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.

Naylor's RBI single in the eighth inning was the decisive play in this contest. The first baseman has been a bit lacking in highlight moments in July, batting a poor .215 (14-for-65) with 11 RBI through 18 games this month. For the season, he's slashing .237/.319/.469 with 22 home runs, 72 RBI, 55 runs scored, five steals and 16 doubles through 401 plate appearances.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Marlins' Josh Bell: Homers in victory

Bell went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 6-3 victory versus the Orioles.

Bell belted the only long ball of the contest, swatting a solo shot to center field in the fourth inning. It was his second homer in three contests following a 22-game stretch during which he went deep only once. Bell has hit 11 home runs through 100 contests, so he'll have to pick up the pace to reach 20 long balls for the fifth time in his career.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Reaches 20-homer mark

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 12-3 win over the Yankees.

Alonso was one of two Mets to reach the 20-homer threshold this season, as both he and Francisco Lindor hit the mark in this blowout win. Alonso has come out of the gates swinging in the second half, going 7-for-23 (.304) over six games since the All-Star break. The first baseman is at a .244/.324/.458 slash line with 53 RBI, 57 runs scored, two stolen bases and 23 doubles through 101 contests this season.

  • Juan Yepez 1B | TOR

Nationals' Juan Yepez: Homers in blowout loss

Yepez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 12-3 loss to the Padres.

Yepez helped the Nationals to a hot start with his first-inning blast, but it was all Padres after that. The 26-year-old is still yet to be held hitless in his Washington career, and his power has come around with two homers and two doubles over five games since the All-Star break. He's batting .368 with two homers, eight RBI, 10 runs scored, one stolen base and eight doubles over 15 contests in the majors this year.
