Santana ended June hot, but this was his first multi-hit effort over 10 games in July. The first baseman is 6-for-32 (.188) with three extra-base hits this month. Despite the slump, he's maintained a decent .247/.328/.431 slash line for the year while adding 13 homers, 41 RBI, 35 runs scored, 17 doubles and two stolen bases across 88 contests.

Harper went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Athletics.

Harper's solo home run in the seventh inning marked a personal milestone, as he has now homered against all 30 major-league organizations. He also walked twice and added a two-run double in his best effort since returning from the injured list July 9. With one game to go before the break, the National League's starting first baseman in the upcoming All-Star Game is batting .303 with 21 home runs, 61 RBI, 55 runs and four steals across 354 plate appearances.

Bell went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and one additional RBI in Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Reds.

The homer was Bell's first since June 21 and his ninth this season. He's had a disappointing first half with a .230/.292/.360 slash line through 93 games. Bell's strikeout rate isn't far off from his career norm, but the power metrics have cratered and he's not walking as much. The 31-year-old impending free agent will presumably be shipped out of Miami at the trade deadline.

Canha was removed from Saturday's game against the Dodgers due to right wrist soreness, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Canha reached base on an error and scored during the second inning of Saturday's victory, but Jake Rogers entered to pinch hit for him in the fourth. Canha's status for Sunday's series finale remains unclear, though the Tigers may opt to sit him so that he'll have plenty of time to heal during the All-Star break.

Wade isn't starting Saturday's game against the Twins, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wade recently battled a tight hamstring and didn't play Thursday, though he was back in San Francisco's lineup Friday. There's no word that he aggravated the issue, but it's a bit surprising to see him not starting against a right-hander (Simeon Woods Richardson). Wilmer Flores is playing first base and batting seventh for the Giants on Saturday.

Soderstrom suffered a stress reaction but not a fracture of his wrist according to recent tests, and he is currently donning a splint, MLB.com reports.

Manager Mark Kotsay expressed relief at the test results, which he described as the best-case scenario for the promising rookie. Soderstrom is slated to wear the splint for up to 10 days before beginning a regimen of strengthening exercises as the next step in his recovery. Given the nature of the injury, he appears likely to require more than a minimum-length stay on the injured list.

Goldschmidt isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Goldschmidt will take a seat to begin Saturday's activities after putting together a five-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 6-for-22 with two homers and four RBI. His absence will move Alec Burleson to first base, allowing Willson Contreras to serve as the DH with Pedro Pages at catcher.

Schanuel notched an RBI single in the fourth inning and walked twice to extend his modest on-base streak to five games. He's gone 4-for-14 with two doubles, two RBI and two steals while drawing six free passes during that stretch. Schanuel has been performing well offensively since late June -- over his past 17 games, he's slashing .323/.419/.387 with four doubles, seven RBI, seven runs and three thefts while posting a 9:9 K:BB.

Casas (ribs) hit soft-toss pitching and swung off a tee Friday, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Swinging off a tee represents an advancement in Casas' rehab program. The injured first baseman had been limited to dry swings since late June. He's expected to begin a rehab assignment following the All-Star break and is hoping for a late-July return from the 60-day injured list.

Encarnacion-Strand underwent surgery Thursday to repair ligaments in his fractured right wrist, MLB.com reports.

The recovery time is estimated to be three months, which means Encarnacion-Strand is unlikely to return until the 2025 season. The Reds have been getting by with a combination of Spencer Steer and Jeimer Candelario at first base since Encarnacion-Strand landed on the injured list May 8.
