  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Slipping down order

Abreu has hit seventh in the Astros' lineup in consecutive games, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Abreu has only two hits in his first 28 plate appearances of the season, and he's recently hit behind both Yainer Diaz and Chas McCormick. His slip down the order began Friday with the Astros facing a lefty, but he remained in the same position for right-hander Jon Gray on Saturday. While it's been a poor start to the season, Abreu should remain a regular in the lineup due to the limited number of alternatives Houston has at first base, unless the team opts to promote impressive prospect Joey Loperfido.

  • Kris Bryant RF | COL

Rockies' Kris Bryant: Battling back stiffness

Bryant isn't in the lineup Saturday versus the Rays due to lower-back stiffness, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Bryant has a history of back issues in his career, so the Rockies will play it safe and hold him out until his condition improves. Michael Toglia will cover right field while the former MVP sits and could see increased playing time if Bryant's injury ends up costing him multiple games.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Gets Saturday off

Hoskins isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.

After going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's series opener, Hoskins will get a day off to regroup Saturday. His absence will allow Jake Bauers to pick up a start at first base while William Contreras serves as the DH, putting Gary Sanchez behind the plate.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Reaches four times in loss

Freeman went 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs in a loss to the Cubs on Friday.

Freeman continues to get on base at an elite clip, as his .533 OBP through 10 games ranks fifth in the majors. The superstar first baseman also ranks second in the league with eight walks and is tied for fourth with 14 hits. Freeman is off to an excellent start in his quest to bat at least .300 for the fifth straight campaign.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Launches first homer

Casas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-6 win over the Angels.

Casas launched his first homer of the season, and the second of back-to-back blasts in the second inning, contributing to Boston's early 4-0 lead. After a cool 1-for-15 start, Casas has hit safely in four straight, going 6-for-15 with two extra-base hits, three walks, two RBI and three runs scored.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Doubles, scores twice in win

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 5-4 win over the A's.

Torkelson has been struggling a bit, as he came into Friday's game batting just .185, but he managed to push that up to .226 with the two hits. The first baseman batted .203 and .233 in his first two MLB seasons, so his average may not climb much higher, but fantasy managers are expecting him to get going in the power department after he launched 31 home runs in 2023.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Reaches base three times

Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Rockies.

Diaz has hit atop the Rays' lineup in every game this season, and he made an immediate impact by drawing a walk to begin the game while also coming around to score. Eight frames later, he led off with a double, which began a five-run rally for the Rays. Diaz now has a three-game hitting streak and three multi-hit performances for the season.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Homers in defeat

Steer went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two walks during Friday's 3-2 loss against the Mets.

Steer put the Reds ahead early with a long ballt off Jose Quintana in the first inning, but Cincinnati's offense wasn't able to manufacture much else Friday. The 26-year-old utility man has homered twice with nine RBI through his first seven games.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Goes deep in win

Olson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Olson slammed a monstrous 424-foot home run off Arizona left-hander Tommy Henry for his second of the season. The Atlanta first baseman later added a double off Kevin Ginkel and scored the game-tying run in the ninth inning. Olson appears to be headed for another solid season hitting in the heart of an uber-potent Atlanta lineup, as he's opened with a .269/.321/.654 slash line in his first 27 plate appearances.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Socks first 2024 homer

O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with a triple and a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Getting the start at DH against right-hander Jared Jones and batting fifth, O'Hearn took the rookie hurler deep in the second inning for his first homer of the year. The 30-year-old slugger came out of nowhere to post an .802 OPS over 368 plate appearances last season in a strong-side platoon role, and he's doing more of the same to begin 2024, going 5-for-16 with three of his hits going for extra bases, including a double against the Angels on Opening Day.
