  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Returns to lineup

Gimenez (leg) will play second base and bat sixth in his return to action Wednesday in San Diego, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Gimenez had to be removed from Sunday's game against the Astros due to left leg tightness and didn't play Tuesday following the off day Monday. However, he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. Gimenez and his teammates will be going up against Aaron Civale.

Torres is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Mets.

Ortiz was called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

Ortiz will return to the big leagues after being sent down May 26. The shortstop has produced a .259 average with a double, four RBI and four runs scored over 27 at-bats over 11 games with Baltimore this season. Ortiz continues to rake at Triple-A, batting .328 with 18 extra-base hits over 128 at-bats in 32 games, and he'll look to stick this time around with the Orioles. In order to make room on the major-league roster, Mark Kolozsvary was optioned to Norfolk on Wednesday.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Two hits, homer off bench

Biggio went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles.

Biggio is now 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs in his last two games after going 1-for-12 in his previous six contests. The 28-year-old Biggio has primarily served in a utility role for Toronto this season, though he's seen his playing time tick up a bit with Brandon Belt (hamstring) on the IL. Through 109 plate appearances this year, Biggio is slashing .202/.275/.404 with six homers, 17 runs scored, 12 RBI and two steals.

The veteran second baseman now has two home runs over his last three games, giving him eight for the season -- just two shy of his career high. Frazier's now slashing .236/.300/.410 with 33 runs scored, 31 RBI and six steals through 235 plate appearances this season.

  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Tigers' Zack Short: On bench for matinee game

Andy Ibanez will step in at the keystone in place of Short, who went 5-for-19 with a double and five RBI while starting at second base in five of the Tigers' previous six games. Short will most likely be back in the lineup for the nightcap.

Mariners' Jose Caballero: Tallies three RBI, two steals

Caballero went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, three RBI and two steals in Tuesday's win over the Marlins.

Cabellero's big hit of the night came in the sixth when he swatted a bases-clearing triple to left to put the Mariners up 8-1. He also notched multiple steals for the second time this season and is up to nine steals thus far. The 26-year-old rookie has been sneaky good in 40 games since being called up. He's slashing .253/.407/.379 with two homers, 16 RBI, 16 runs and an 18:23 BB:K over 123 plate appearances.

He now has two home runs in June after it took him 38 games to hit his first long ball of the year. Dubon has picked up a hit in nine of his last 11 games and is slashing .320/.327/.500 with five extra-base knocks, six RBI, seven runs and a 1:4 BB:K over that span. He's maintained a healthy average throughout the course of the season and still has been getting looks out of the leadoff spot despite the return of Jose Altuve.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Remains out Tuesday

Gimenez (leg) isn't starting Tuesday against the Padres.

Gimenez was removed from Sunday's contest due to left leg tightness, and the issue is apparently still severe enough to hold him out of Tuesday's game. Tyler Freeman will take Gimenez's spot at second base and bat sixth.
