  • Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM

Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Begins rehab assignment

Bae (hip) began a rehab assignment with Low-A Bradenton on Sunday.

Bae had a single, a double and an RBI in three plate appearances. The utility player is working his way back from a left hip flexor injury and should eventually move to a higher Pirates minor-league affiliate as he continues his rehab assignment. Bae should be back with the Pirates by mid-April.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Goes deep twice

Gorman went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Marlins.

Gorman was the only source of run support for the Cardinals in a game that got ugly for them very quick. The 24-year-old showed off his raw power, sending both home runs 400-plus feet to center field, awarding fantasy managers who patiently waited for his bat to get going after just two extra-base hits in his first 33 at-bats of the year. The 24-year-old slugger is hitting .222/.300/.444 with a concerning 42.5 strikeout rate early on.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Marlins' Luis Arraez: Four hits in win

Arraez went 4-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.

Arraez's bat finally got going after he entered Sunday's action hitting just .194 through nine games. It was his 14th career 4-hit game though he is still in search of his first RBI on the season. Arraez has scored nine runs while batting atop the Marlins' order, which is currently tied for ninth best in baseball.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Gets Sunday off

Rodgers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Alan Trejo will pick up the start at second base while Rodgers rests for the second time in the Rockies' first 10 games of the season. Over 35 plate appearances to date, Rodgers is hitting .147 with no extra-base hits, no stolen bases, no RBI and four runs.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Hits bench vs. lefty

Stott is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Washington, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Stott has made three starts against left-handed pitchers this season but will take a seat against Nationals southpaw MacKenzie Gore. Edmundo Sosa will handle the keystone and bat eighth Sunday.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers in third straight game

Marte went 2-for-4 with a leadoff home run and an RBI double in Saturday's 9-8 loss to Atlanta.

Both hits actually came in the first inning. Marte led off the top of the first with a mammoth 461-foot blast off of Max Fried and later concluded the scoring in a six-run frame by doubling in a run off the lefty. He also drew a walk. It's the second straight game with a leadoff home run for Marte and his third straight contest with a long ball. He's reached base 18 times in his first nine games.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Idle versus lefty

Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Cubs, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Left-handed starter Jordan Wicks will take the mound for the Cubs on Saturday, so the lefty-hitting Lux will step out of the lineup. Mookie Betts will cover second base instead while Miguel Rojas starts at shortstop.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Gets breather against lefty

Garcia isn't in the Nationals' lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

With left-hander Ranger Suarez on the mound for Philadelphia, the lefty-hitting Garcia will step out of the lineup Saturday. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in at the keystone and bat seventh.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Back in lineup

Donovan (elbow) is starting in left field Saturday against the Marlins, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Donovan was hit by two pitches during Wednesday's game against the Padres, prompting a day off Thursday to recover. Now seemingly healthy, the 27-year-old super-utility man will return to the top of the Cardinals' lineup and look to stay hot after slashing .308/.438/.500 to begin the year.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Starts at third base

Espinal started at third base and went 0-for-3 with a walk and stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.

Jeimer Candelario served as the designated hitter after leaving Wednesday's game with a sore elbow. It's unclear if Candelario will be limited to DH duties, but if so, Espinal could fill in at third base. He's expected to slot in somewhere anytime the Reds are facing a left-hander. Espinal is 1-for-10 with two walks and two steals through four games (three starts).
