Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Remains out of lineup

Hoerner (triceps) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

A triceps injury confined Hoerner to the sidelines Monday, and he will open on the bench for one more day and possibly another, as the Cubs will have an off day Thursday. Zach McKinstry will handle the shortstop duties in Hoerner's place.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Takes spot in Tuesday's lineup

Garcia (side) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Garcia sat out a couple games with a sore side, but he is ready to return to action on the heels of a team off day. Garcia will man the keystone and hit cleanup for the Nationals on Tuesday night.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Three hits in Monday's win

Estrada went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 3-2 win over Atlanta.

Estrada was also caught stealing after his eighth-inning single. The second baseman has put up consecutive multi-hit efforts since snapping an 0-for-10 skid. He's batting .300 (12-for-40) with two steals, two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored through 11 games in September. The hot stretch has boosted his season slash line to .264/.321/.411 through 122 contests.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Takes seat Monday

Rojas isn't in Arizona's lineup Monday against the Dodgers.

The lefty-hitting Rojas will take a seat Monday with lefty-throwing Tyler Anderson on the bump for Los Angeles. Emmanuel Rivera will take over third base in his absence and bat fifth in the order.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Rejoins active roster

The Mets reinstated Guillorme (groin) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Guillorme had been on the IL with a strained groin since Aug. 15. Having hit .283/.355/.357 and provided solid defense around the infield this season, the 27-year-old should get plenty of playing time for the remainder of the season, especially while Starling Marte (finger) is out of the lineup.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Not in Monday's lineup

Hoerner (triceps) isn't starting Monday against the Mets.

Hoerner was removed from Sunday's game against the Giants due to right triceps soreness and will be held out of the lineup for at least one game. Whether he's available off the bench remains to be seen, but Christopher Morel will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Takes seat after five-strikeout day

India is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

India is still locked in as an everyday player for the Reds, but he'll get a day to clear his head after he went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts in Sunday's 7-6 loss to Milwaukee. Alejo Lopez, who reached base in all four of his plate appearances while producing two extra-base hits in that same game Sunday, will check in at second base in place of India in Monday's series opener.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Homers, swipes bag

Estrada went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base, and he was caught stealing in a 4-2 win against the Cubs on Sunday.

Estrada stole second after reaching on a fielder's choice in the second inning, singled home a run and was caught stealing in the fourth and connected on a go-ahead solo shot in the seventh. The successful performance snapped a three-game hitless stretch for the 26-year-old, who's slashing .259/.317/.406 with 13 home runs, 61 runs, 55 RBI and 18 stolen bases across 121 games.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Exits with triceps injury

Hoerner was removed from Sunday's game against the Giants in the top of the sixth inning due to right triceps tightness, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Hoerner went 2-for-2 with a double to begin Sunday's matchup, but he was replaced defensively to begin the sixth inning. It's not yet clear whether the 25-year-old will be available for Monday's series opener against the Mets.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Steals fourth base

McNeil went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base in a 9-3 win Sunday in Miami.

McNeil singled, stole second base and scored in the second and drove in a run in the third with another single. It was his fourth stolen base in as many attempts this year. In his last 19 contests, he has put nearly every ball in play, walking just four times and striking out only three times in 78 plate appearances. He continues to get on base regularly and is hitting .390/.417/.558 since July 30.
