Adam Frazier 2B | LAA
Pirates' Adam Frazier: Starting at keystone Friday
Frazier is starting at second base and batting eighth against the Marlins on Friday.
Frazier replaced Nick Gonzales in the sixth inning of Thursday's win over Miami after the latter injured his left ankle. With Gonzales being placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday, Frazier looks to have a hold on the keystone position for the time being and could remain in lineups against southpaws, whom he's batted .246 against in his career.

Ryan Bliss SS | SEA
Mariners' Ryan Bliss: Not starting Friday
Bliss is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Athletics on Friday.
Bliss got the start at second base on Opening Day on Thursday and went 0-for-2 with two walks and one stolen base. He'll begin Friday's contest in the dugout as Dylan Moore gets the start at the keystone and bats eighth against Athletics southpaw Jeffrey Springs.

Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT
Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Placed on IL due to ankle fracture
The Pirates placed Gonzales on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a non-displaced fracture in his left ankle, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Gonzales appeared to injure himself when he smacked a two-run home run in the sixth inning of Thursday's game against the Marlins. Further tests revealed a fracture in his left ankle, and he will head back to Pittsburgh to see a foot specialist to determine a rehab schedule, per Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Enmanuel Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move, and Adam Frazier should get starts at the keystone for as long as Gonzales is sidelined.

Dylan Moore LF | PHI
Mariners' Dylan Moore: Past illness
Moore (illness) is starting at second base and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Athletics.
Moore fell ill towards the tail end of the spring, but he has recovered in advance of Seattle's first series of the year. Moore finished the 2024 regular season with a .201/.320/.367 slash line with 32 stolen bases, 10 home runs and 42 RBI across 441 plate appearances.

Enmanuel Valdez 2B | PIT
Pirates' Enmanuel Valdez: Appears poised to be recalled
Valdez has a locker at LoanDepot Park ahead of the Pirates' game against the Marlins on Friday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Valdez has not been officially recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis at this point, but his presence could mean the Pirates expect Nick Gonzales (ankle) to miss time. The team should have official word on Valdez and Gonzales soon.

Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL
Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Out of lineup again Friday
Dubon is not in the lineup for Friday's tilt against the Mets, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
All signs had pointed to Dubon opening the season as the Astros' starting second baseman, but he's now been on the bench in favor of Brendan Rodgers for each of the first two games. Dubon should still play plenty in a utility role, but it's clear that Rodgers is higher than him in the second base pecking order right now.

Luis Garcia 2B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Collects first steal of 2025
Garcia went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Phillies.
The 24-year-old second baseman had a strong start to his campaign, driving in his first run of 2025 and swiping his first bag in the eighth inning to help the Nationals tie the game at 3-3 before the bullpen imploded in the top of the 10th. Garcia was one of the most surprising contributors to Washington's MLB-leading 223 steals as a team last year, going 22-for-27 on the basepaths as part of a breakout season despite not having stolen more than 11 bags in a season at any level prior to that.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Draws start versus southpaw
Lowe is starting at second base and batting third in Friday's opener versus the Rockies.
Not only is the left-handed hitting Lowe in the lineup against southpaw Kyle Freeland, but he's hitting in the middle of the order. Lowe has been better versus righties (.833 OPS) than lefties (.737 OPS) in his career, but he had an .835 OPS against left-handers in 2024.

Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM
Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Heads to IL
The Mets placed Mauricio (knee) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Mauricio underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee back in January 2024 and had a follow-up arthroscopic procedure in August to remove scar tissue. While he was healthy headed into camp, the 24-year-old infielder is being brought along slowly by the Mets. According to MLB.com, Mauricio is expected to begin a minor-league assignment around mid-April.

Vinny Capra 3B | BOS
Brewers' Vinny Capra: Slugs first MLB home run
Capra went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Yankees.
Capra won a roster spot with a huge showing in spring training which saw him slug six home runs, and he drew the start at third base Opening Day. He carried that momentum into his first plate appearance, when he lined a Carlos Rodon offering over the left-field wall to lead off the top of the third inning. It was the first major-league homer for Capra, who struck out and grounded out in his other two plate appearances before being pinch-hit for in the ninth inning. Capra looks to be on the short side of a platoon at third base with Oliver Dunn until the Brewers decide Caleb Durbin is ready for a promotion, but he could hit his way into a larger role.
