  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Homer, steal in win

Semien went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Angels.

Semien ended a 19-game homer drought when he led off the bottom of the first inning with a long ball. In that span, he batted a poor .205 (16-for-78) with three doubles, five RBI, 10 runs scored and two steals. He's started to turn things around with at least one hit in five straight games. The second baseman now has a .238/.308/.387 slash line, 19 homers, 67 RBI, 88 runs scored and six steals over 141 contests this season. He hasn't missed the 20-homer mark in a full-length campaign since 2018, and he has three weeks left to reach that milestone in 2024.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Diamondbacks' Luis Guillorme: Draws back into starting nine

Guillorme will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Astros.

The lefty-hitting Guillorme had been on the bench in each of the last three contests while the Diamondbacks opposed left-handed starters, but he'll draw back into the starting nine Sunday versus Astros righty Justin Verlander. Despite his inclusion in the lineup, Guillorme's opportunities to play against righties will likely be more limited moving forward following Ketel Marte's return from the injured list.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: On bench Sunday

Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Marte went 0-for-7 with a walk and four strikeouts as the designated hitter the past two games after being reinstated from the injured list Friday, and he'll receive a day off for the series finale in Houston. Luis Guillorme is starting at second base while Joc Pederson is back at designated hitter Sunday.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Managing elbow issue

India was removed from Sunday's game against the Mets due to left elbow discomfort, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The second baseman went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before exiting the contest. The severity of the injury is unclear, and India should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's matchup with Atlanta.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Out of Sunday's lineup

Wisely is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wisely has gone 3-for-25 in his past 12 games and will sit for Sunday's series finale in San Diego. Marco Luciano is starting at second base and could be taking hold of a regular role at the position.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Sitting against lefty

Turang is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Turang doesn't operate in a strict platoon at second base, but he'll sit Sunday against Colorado southpaw Kyle Freeland. Andruw Monasterio will start at the keystone and bat ninth in the series finale.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Receiving rare day off

Hoerner is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Hoerner has gone 3-for-14 in his past four games and will receive a well-deserved day off Sunday after a run of 75 consecutive starts. Miles Mastrobuoni will take over at the keystone and bat ninth.

  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: On bench Sunday

Triolo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Triolo will take a seat after making 12 consecutive starts, and he had a .282/.391/.436 slash line with a homer, two steals, eight RBI and six runs during that span. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will shift to the hot corner while Alika Williams receives a start at shortstop.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Three hits, two steals in loss

Gimenez went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

Gimenez singled and stole second in his first at-bat and added a leadoff knock in the seventh before swiping his second bag of the night. The second baseman would go on to reach three times in the contest, and he's now hit safely in six straight games to open the month. It marked his second two-steal effort this season and his seventh game with at least three hits. Gimenez is now slashing .320/.370/.640 in September with two homers, four RBI and three runs scored.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting Sunday

Massey is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Twins.

Massey will begin Sunday's contest on the bench after going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Kansas City's 4-2 win over Minnesota on Saturday. Tommy Pham will serve as the designated hitter while Maikel Garcia starts at second base against Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson.
