  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

    Rays' Brandon Lowe: Sitting Sunday

Lowe (toe) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe will sit for the series finale Sunday after sustaining a broken pinky toe on a hit-by-pitch in the first inning of Saturday's 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. Lowe isn't expected to be placed on the IL and will be available to pinch hit Sunday, per Topkin. Richie Palacios will start at second base Sunday and bat fifth against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

    Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Sitting Sunday

Gonzales isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Gonzales will get a chance to regroup Sunday after going 1-for-17 with five strikeouts over his last five games. In his place, Jared Triolo will get the nod at the keystone and bat sixth.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Smacks second homer

Lux went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Angels.

Lux drew nine pitches in his first at-bat before clobbering a solo shot off Zach Plesac to put the Dodgers on the board. The second baseman would also add an RBI single in the fifth, giving him just his third multi-hit performance this month. Lux has now hit safely in three of his last four contests, posting three RBI and three runs over that brief stretch. Saturday also marked the first time in his last six games that he didn't strike out.

  • Blue Jays' Orelvis Martinez: Suspended 80 games for PED use

Major League Baseball announced Sunday that Martinez has been suspended for 80 games for violating the league's drug prevention and treatment program, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Two days after making his major-league debut against the Guardians, Martinez was dealt the 80-game ban for testing positive for clomiphene, a fertility drug on the league's banned substance list. In a statement following Martinez's suspension, Toronto general manager Ross Atkins fully supported the league's suspension of the 22-year-old prospect and said that the Blue Jays "will do everything in our power to ensure [Martinez] has learned from this mistake," per Davidi. The suspension will keep Martinez out of action until the tail end of the season, with a possible return date of Sept. 23 lining up with the start of the Blue Jays' penultimate series of the season against the Red Sox.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Ninth-inning grand slam in loss

Turang went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in Saturday's loss to the Padres.

Turang reached base four times in the contest, topping things off with a ninth-inning grand slam to bring Milwaukee back within two runs of the Padres. The grand slam was the second of his career, and he's now collected at least one RBI in three consecutive games. Turang has also recorded multiple hits in three straight and is now batting .296 on the campaign with five homers, 31 RBI and 26 stolen bases. Perhaps the only downside is that he's been caught stealing in each of his last three attempts, including twice Saturday.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Back in startling lineup

Marte started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Saturday's 12-1 loss to Philadelphia.

Marte hadn't played the field since Wednesday; he served as the designated hitter Thursday then was held out of the starting lineup Friday. All appears to be fine for Marte, who was merely given a two-game respite from playing the field.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Picks up steal Saturday

Gimenez went 1-for-2 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Gimenez has been running well recently, picking up four steals over his last 10 games, but he's hit just .179 (7-for-39) with two walks in that span. The second baseman is up to 13 steals on 16 attempts this year. He's added a .255/.311/.353 slash line with five home runs, 37 RBI, 39 runs scored, 10 doubles and a triple over 303 plate appearances. Gimenez's playing time remains steady, but a significant drop in power and a slight decline in speed have hurt his fantasy utility.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Busy day in win

Lopez went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in a 5-1 win over the Tigers on Saturday.

Lopez singled in the third inning then hit an RBI double in the fourth to give the White Sox a 2-0 lead. In the sixth frame, he singled, stole second and came around to score on a single by Lenyn Sosa. Lopez entered the contest just 10-for-50 in June. The second baseman is now hitting .239 with six RBI and three steals over 209 at-bats this season.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Idle Saturday

Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Drury had been scratched from the starting lineup on back-to-back nights, but he won't be listed as a starter for Saturday's series finale due to illness. He'll have a team day off Sunday to recover before Monday's matchup with Oakland. Luis Guillorme will play second base and bat ninth Saturday.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Suffers broken toe

Lowe suffered a broken pinky toe during Saturday's game against the Pirates, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Lowe was hit by a pitch in the first inning of the contest and was removed in the sixth frame with what was initially deemed a right foot contusion. However, further evaluation showed that Lowe actually sustained a broken toe. Per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Lowe isn't expected to require an IL stint at this point.
