  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Swats fourth homer

Estrada went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Mets.

Estrada's hitting streak is up to six games (7-for-23), and his long ball was his first since April 14. The second baseman continues to stand out for the Giants with a .329/.384/.532 slash line, four homers, seven RBI, 17 runs scored and five stolen bases through 20 contests.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Hits first home run

Polanco went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored in Sunday's win over Washington.

Polanco is 5-for-13 with a double and home run in his first three games back from the injured list. There has been talk that the Twins may rest him against a left-handed pitcher this week to ease him back into action, but he may be tough to sit if he stays hot at the plate. He looks back to full strength, but continue to monitor his left knee. Polanco missed the final month of 2022 with a left knee injury, and his progress stalled in the Grapefruit League, which delayed his 2023 debut until this weekend.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Drills sixth homer

Gorman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's win against the Mariners. He was also caught stealing.

The hot-hitting infielder took Chris Flexen deep in the fourth inning with what proved to be the game-winning long ball. Gorman is up to 11 extra-base hits and 22 RBI with an impressive .313/.397/.657 slash line through 78 plate appearances. He was stuck in a small 3-for-15 skid since his last multi-hit performance April 16.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Guardians' Amed Rosario: Homer shy of cycle

Rosario went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, four runs scored and a steal in Sunday's win over Miami.

Rosario filled up the box score Sunday, tallying four hits (including his second triple in four games) and his fourth stolen base of the season. Rosario is heating up after a slow start to the year, going 9-for-24 with five extra-base hits in his last six games. The 27-year-old shortstop boosted his slash line to .260/.304/.397 with a homer run, four RBI and 12 runs scored through 79 plate appearances.

  • David Villar 1B | SF

Giants' David Villar: On bench Sunday

Villar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Villar started five of the past six games but went just 2-for-17 with two doubles, three RBI and nine strikeouts during that span. J.D. Davis appears to have taken ahold of the starting job at third base, as he's starting there Sunday for the 10th time in San Francisco's last 11 contests.

  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Requires more testing

Manager John Schneider said Espinal (wrist) will undergo additional medical testing Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Espinal had X-rays come back negative on his bruised right wrist after being hit by a pitch Saturday, but more medical testing is still necessary. The 28-year-old should still be considered day-to-day but seems unlikely to be available for Monday's series opener versus the White Sox.

  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: X-rays negative on wrist

Espinal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, but X-rays on his bruised right wrist returned negative, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.

Espinal was fortunate to avoid any structural damage to his wrist after being hit by a pitch in Saturday's 3-2 loss, but he may be down for a day or two while he waits for the bruising to subside. The Blue Jays still have Cavan Biggio on hand as a utility infielder if Espinal isn't available off the bench.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Sitting again Sunday

Donovan is out of the lineup of Sunday's game against the Mariners.

The 26-year-old rejoined the lineup Friday after sitting out a couple days due to an infected abrasion in his lower left leg, but he's out of the starting nine Sunday for the second straight day. It's unclear if the injury is still bothersome for Donovan, or if manager Oliver Marmol is simply prioritizing other matchups this weekend.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Gets fourth straight start

Rengifo will start at second base and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Royals.

Rengifo will pick up his fourth consecutive start, with two coming at the keystone and two coming in the outfield. Though he's reached base five times in 11 plate appearances over the previous three games, Rengifo is still sitting on a .616 OPS for the season. He'll likely need to string together several more solid offensive performances before moving out of his current utility role and staking his claim to an everyday gig.

  • Taylor Motter 2B | STL

Cardinals' Taylor Motter: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Cardinals designated Motter for assignment Sunday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Motter saw action in seven games with the Cardinals and slashed .222/.300/.333 over his 20 plate appearances. He'll cede his spot on the roster to Paul DeJong (back), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is expected to fill the same utility infield role that Motter previously occupied.
