  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Sitting again Wednesday

Moncada (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Toronto.

The White Sox have thus far resisted placing Moncada on the 10-day injured list, but he'll be on the bench for a fifth consecutive game due to his sore quad. Jake Burger will pick up another start at third base Wednesday while the White Sox continue to evaluate Moncada on a game-by-game basis.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Placed on 10-day IL

Segura (finger) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Segura was diagnosed with a fractured right index finger after leaving Tuesday's game against the Giants, so it isn't very surprising to see him land on the injured list. A timetable for his return hasn't yet been revealed, but he'll likely be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. Johan Camargo is starting at second base while Nick Maton takes over at shortstop during Wednesday's matchup against San Francisco.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Phillies' Nick Maton: Gets call from Triple-A

The Phillies recalled Maton from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday. He'll start at second base and bat eighth in the Phillies' series finale with the Giants.

He'll give the Phillies some additional depth in the middle infield after Jean Segura (finger) joined shortstop Didi Gregorius (knee) on the injured list Wednesday, though Johan Camargo and Bryson Stott may be first in line for reps at either middle-infield spots. Since Stott is one of the organization's top prospects, the Phillies will likely want him to play somewhere on a near-everyday basis, so he could end up getting demoted later this week instead of Maton if Gregorius -- who is currently on a minor-league rehab assignment -- is activated. Even if that happens, Maton may still find himself behind Camargo in the pecking order for reps at second base while Segura is on the mend.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Moves to IL

The Marlins placed Anderson (back) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Anderson will be joined on the IL by Joey Wendle (hamstring), which should clear the way for Jon Berti and Willians Astudillo to see more work out of the Miami infield. When the Marlins have been at full strength this season, Anderson hasn't had a clear path to an everyday role at any position, but his ability to play third base and the two corner-outfield spots has allowed him to see steady at-bats when healthy. Anderson will be eligible to return from the IL on June 8 if he's made a full recovery from his bout with back spasms.

  • Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Clubs third homer

Escobar went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 10-0 win over the Nationals.

He launched his third homer of the year in the sixth inning off Francisco Perez to cap the scoring in the rout for the Mets. Escobar struggled through most of May but has caught fire recently along with the rest of the New York offense, batting .333 (12-for-36) over the last eight games with four doubles, a homer, six runs and seven RBI.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Steals seventh bag

Ramirez went 1-for-2 with three walks, two runs and a stolen base during Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Royals.

The 29-year-old was intentionally walked twice and was retired only once in five plate appearances. Ramirez slumped briefly in early May but came alive during the second half of the month, going 15-for-47 (.319 average) with six home runs, 19 RBI, 11 runs and four stolen bases in his last 13 games.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Starts rehab stint

Toro (shoulder) reported to High-A Everett for a rehab assignment Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

The 25-year-old landed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left shoulder May 22, and Wednesday is the first day he's eligible to be activated. Toro could be back on the active roster before the end of the current series in Baltimore, which finishes up Thursday.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Scores in return

Madrigal (back) went 1-for-2 with a run scored in an 8-7 win Tuesday over Milwaukee.

Madrigal returned as a pinch hitter in the fifth inning and stayed in the game, playing second base. He singled and scored in the sixth on P.J. Higgins' home run. It was his first appearance for the Cubs since May 9. Between his stint on the injured list and his .503 OPS, Madrigal's first season on the northside of Chicago has left much to be desired. With Andrelton Simmons and Christopher Morel each receiving time at the keystone in Madrigal's absence, there's no guarantee he will receive the bulk of the playing time now that he's healthy.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Nursing sore shoulder

Longoria left Tuesday's game against the Phillies due to soreness in his right shoulder and isn't expected to be in the lineup Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Longoria went 0-for-1 with a strikeout and a walk prior to exiting Tuesday's contest, and he's poised to receive a day off for the series finale in Philadelphia. The veteran third baseman may still be available off the bench, however, so the injury doesn't appear to be a serious concern.

  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Reds' Matt Reynolds: Three hits, stolen base Tuesday

Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Sox.

Reynolds singled and scored in the top of the sixth inning. He also added two more base knocks and a stolen base later in the contest. The 31-year-old is now up to three steals on the season and he has notched at least one hit in five straight games. Over those contests, Reynolds has gone 8-for-17 with two extra-base hits, four runs, four RBI and a stolen base. The hot streak has raised his batting average from .214 to .274 over 73 at-bats in 28 games in 2022.
