Peterson signed a major-league contract with the Yankees on Monday.

Peterson is set to rejoin the Yankees after being designated for assignment by the team last week and subsequently electing to become a free agent. He is expected to be with the Yankees for their two-game series against the Marlins, which starts Monday. The 27-year-old, who went 3-for-9 in two games with the Yankees earlier in the year, will occupy a bench role during his time with the big club.

Peterson chose to become a free agent after clearing waivers Sunday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

Machado went 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

Machado drove in his team's only run, as the Orioles couldn't manage to produce at the plate against Chris Sale. Machado has started the season on a strong note, as he owns a .308/.392/.523 line with three home runs after playing 16 games.

Robinson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Astros.

Over the last three games, Robinson has gone 0-for-11 and struck out nine times, bringing his batting average down to .167 for the year. He'll head to the bench while Carlos Tocci starts in center field.

Alvarez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

With southpaw Chris Sale on the hill for Boston, the left-handed Alvarez will take a seat to start the game. Anthony Santander and Craig Gentry will start in the outfield while Adam Jones shifts to designated hitter.

Rendon (toe) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Rockies.

Rendon will be withheld from the lineup for a second consecutive game after fouling a pitch off his toe Friday. The injury isn't expected to sideline him for long, but the team will exercise caution with its star third baseman in the interim. Wilmer Difo will handle third base duties in his absence.

Longoria went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored Saturday against the Padres.

Longoria took Clayton Richard deep in the fourth inning for his second home run of the season. He's been largely ineffective at the plate with his new team, highlighted by 17 strikeouts and one walk in 51 at-bats. He has shown some signs of life of late, posting two multi-hit games over his past three appearances so he may be in for a nice run soon.

Segura went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and one run scored Saturday against the Athletics.

Segura continues to swing an incredibly hot bat as his multihit game Saturday was already his seventh of the season. He's attempted just one stolen base, the only notable concern to his profile. However, he has batted second exclusively to begin the season, and if that continues his stolen-base attempts should tick up.

Farmer could see more starts at third base while Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is sidelined, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Farmer is a natural catcher, but he saw time at each infield position in the minors. With both Forsythe and Justin Turner (wrist) sidelined, the Dodgers are relatively thin at third base, so Farmer may be called into action at the hot corner. He's off to a decent start at the plate, going 4-for-13 (.308), but the Dodgers may opt to give more starts to Enrique Hernandez if they want a more experienced player in the everyday lineup.

Moustakas went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Saturday against the Angels.

Moustakas hit his third home run of the season in the eighth inning against Blake Parker. He also extended his hitting streak to seven games, which includes three multihit games, six runs scored, seven RBI and five extra-base hits. He hasn't been affected by an otherwise sluggish Royals offense and should continue to bat third in the lineup.
