Curtis Mead 3B | CHW
White Sox's Curtis Mead: On bench in Vargas' return
Mead is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Mead had started in each of Chicago's previous 12 games, but he'll hit the bench while the White Sox welcome Miguel Vargas (wrist) back from the injured list. Given that he slashed a middling .255/.300/.362 over that 12-game stretch, Mead may not have made a compelling enough of a case for the White Sox to continue giving him everyday at-bats in the corner infield ahead of Mead and Lenyn Sosa. The right-handed-hitting Mead will likely continue to play regularly against left-handed pitching, however.

Connor Norby 2B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Starting rehab assignment
Norby (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Norby appears to have made a swift recovery from his left quadriceps strain, an injury he suffered just last week. He will be eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Sunday and would seem to have a good shot to be ready to go at that time.

Zach McKinstry 3B | DET
Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Out Wednesday with back issue
McKinstry (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
McKinstry is day-to-day will back stiffness, which resulted in him being scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 12-2 win. He'll remain on the bench Wednesday, though even if fully healthy, the left-handed-hitting utility player might have sat anyway with southpaw Carlos Rodon on the bump for New York.

Emmanuel Rivera 3B | BAL
Orioles' Emmanuel Rivera: Sitting after seven straight starts
Rivera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
After seeing his eight-game hitting streak come to an end following an 0-for-4 performance in Tuesday's 3-2 win, Rivera will get a breather Wednesday. Jeremiah Jackson will step in at third base in place of Rivera, who had started in each of the previous seven games.

Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW
White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Activated, in lineup Wednesday
The White Sox activated Vargas (hand) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
He will start at third base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game versus the Rays, marking his return to action following nearly a two-week absence with a left hand sprain. Vargas bypassed a rehab assignment, as the White Sox were satisfied with how he looked and felt while reincorporating baseball activities over the last few days.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Sitting again versus lefty
Baty is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Philadelphia.
The left-handed-hitting Baty has now been out of the lineup each of the last five times the Mets have faced a southpaw. He hadn't previously been in a strict platoon, but the Mets are changing things up as they hope to awaken a dormant offense. Mark Vientos will play third base Wednesday while Starling Marte occupies the designated hitter slot.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
Angels' Yoan Moncada: Resting Wednesday
Moncada is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Moncada will get a breather for Wednesday's matinee after he had been included in the starting nine in each of the Angels' previous five contests. Oswald Peraza will move across the diamond and will fill in for Moncada at the hot corner.

Graham Pauley 3B | MIA
Marlins' Graham Pauley: Kicking off rehab assignment
Pauley (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Pauley has been on the shelf for more than three weeks with a right oblique strain but has been cleared to return to game action. He will play third base for Jacksonville on Wednesday and shouldn't need too many rehab contests before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Pauley will beat Connor Norby (quadriceps) back from the IL, so the former should be the Marlins' primary third baseman when he returns, at least until the latter is ready.

Luke Adams 3B | MIL
Brewers' Luke Adams: Healthy again at Double-A
Adams (shoulder) went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in his return to the Double-A Biloxi lineup Tuesday after being reinstated from the 7-day injured list.
Adams was back in action for Biloxi for the first time since June 20 after a left shoulder contusion kept him out for an extended period. He was cleared to rejoin the Double-A club after recently wrapping up a nine-game rehab assignment at High-A Wisconsin, during which he slashed .200/.475/.280. During his time with Biloxi this season, Adams has produced a .411 on-base percentage while slugging 11 home runs and stealing 10 bases across 263 plate appearances.
