Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Scratched with sore hamstring

Ortiz was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays due to right hamstring soreness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The third baseman was penciled in atop the order with lefty Yusei Kikuchi pitching for Toronto but will instead be held out due to the hamstring issue. Andruw Monasterio replaced him at third base and the leadoff spot. Ortiz should be considered day-to-day heading into Wednesday's series finale versus the Blue Jays.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Returns to lineup

Chapman (hamstring) is back in the Giants' lineup versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Chapman suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday's game versus the Rangers and missed the two following games because of it. With the third baseman no longer sidelined, Casey Schmitt will head back to the bench.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: On bench Tuesday

Hernandez isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday versus the Rangers.

Hernandez has been the primary third baseman for the Dodgers while Max Muncy nurses an oblique injury. In the three-game series versus the Yankees that ended Sunday, Hernandez went 3-for-10 with a home run and a double. With the 32-year-old on the bench Tuesday, Miguel Rojas is starting at third base and will bat ninth.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Getting Tuesday off

LeMahieu isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

LeMahieu has gone 4-for-9 with an RBI across his last three games, and he'll get a breather Tuesday while Oswaldo Cabrera starts at third base, batting ninth.

  • Zach McKinstry 3B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Set for bulk of reps at shortstop

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that McKinstry and Ryan Kreidler will share shortstop while Javier Baez (back) is on the 15-day injured list, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Hinch said it won't be a strict platoon between the two players but will be close to that. As the left-handed bat, McKinstry will be in line to receive the bulk of the reps at the position, although Kreidler is starting there Tuesday versus Nationals lefty Mitchell Parker. Hinch noted that Andy Ibanez could see a handful of innings at shortstop, as well.

  • Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN

Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Back in big leagues

The Tigers recalled Kreidler from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Kreidler has missed a large chunk of the minor-league season with a fractured finger, but he had recently rejoined the roster at Toledo, where he's gone 4-for-25 at the plate in nine games. He's starting at shortstop Tuesday versus the Nationals and is expected to form the short side of a platoon at the position while Javier Baez (back) is out, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Hitting cleanup in return

Defers (knee) is batting fourth and playing third base Tuesday against Philadelphia, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Devers missed Sunday's game with left knee soreness but he's back in the lineup for Tuesday's series opener. He's 8-for-25 (.320) with three homers through seven games in June and owns a .932 OPS on the year.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Slow recovery progress

Muncy (oblique) said Tuesday on Foul Territory that he's "not progressing as fast" as he would like from his strained right oblique.

Muncy's comments mesh with what manager Dave Roberts said over the weekend, which was that the third baseman is working on a "slow program." The 33-year-old recently progressed to taking dry swings and doing plyo-ball workouts, and he doesn't appear to be close to rejoining the Dodgers. Enrique Hernandez has been operating as Los Angeles' primary third baseman in the meantime and will likely continue to fill that role.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Sits out second straight

Miranda is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

After starting 22 straight contests, Miranda is now on the bench for the second day in a row. Trevor Larnach is in the designated hitter spot and Alex Kirilloff will play first base for the Twins on Tuesday.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Crushes another homer

Lewis went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Monday's win over Colorado.

Lewis blasted a Nick Mears curveball 435 feet in the eighth inning, stretching Minnesota's lead to 5-0. The Twins third baseman has impressively hit four homers in seven games this season, requiring just 24 plate appearances. Overall, Lewis is hitting .333 (7-for-21) with five runs scored, six RBI and 2:5 BB:K.
