  • Bryan Ramos 3B | BAL

White Sox's Bryan Ramos: Officially activated

The White Sox reinstated Ramos (quadriceps) from the injured list Saturday.

Ramos landed on the injured list May 17 due to a left quadriceps strain, and he will now return to the White Sox's lineup after a minimum-length stay. The 22-year-old infielder played two rehab games at Triple-A Charlotte, going 2-for-4 with two walks and a run scored, and he figures to reprise his role as Chicago's everyday third baseman now that he's healthy. Zach DeLoach was optioned to Charlotte in a corresponding move.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Getting Saturday off

Vientos isn't in the Mets' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Giants, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The Mets will give Vientos a day off after the third baseman belted his third home run of the season during Friday's loss. Brett Baty will man the hot corner and bat eighth while Vientos sits.

Mets' Mark Vientos: Belts third homer

Vientos went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's loss to the Giants.

The 24-year-old continues to stake a claim to the starting job at third base ahead of Brett Baty. Since getting called back up to the majors May 15, Vientos has gone 8-for-25 (.320) with six extra-base hits, including two of his three big-league homers this season, and a 4:6 BB:K.

  • Bryan Ramos 3B | BAL

White Sox's Bryan Ramos: Expected to return Saturday

Ramos (quadriceps) is expected to be activated to start at third base Saturday against the Orioles, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Nothing's official yet, but it sounds like Ramos will return against right-hander Albert Suarez after missing the minimum 10 days with a left quad strain. Ramos, 22, has displayed an impressive skill set during his time in the minors, and that's made him one of the organization's top prospects, though his ceiling is up for some debate. Regardless, the White Sox have every incentive to give Ramos at-bats this season if he can hold his own.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Moves up order

Smith batted third and went 1-for-3 in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Twins.

Smith, who made a 10th consecutive start, batted out of the three hole for a second straight game. Earlier in the week, he batted cleanup. He's been an under-the-radar producer for the Rangers, ranking second among the team's regulars with a .782 OPS, and he has been rewarded with a promotion in the order against right-handers.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Records steal in win

Espinal started at third base and went 0-for-2 with two walks, a steal and a run scored in Friday's 9-6 win over the Dodgers.

Espinal's stolen base was his sixth in 38 games played, tying a career high he had in 2021 (92 games) and 2022 (135 games) while with the Blue Jays. The Reds tend to be aggressive on the basepaths, and Espinal has taken advantage of more playing time than was expected when the team acquired him late in spring training.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Swipes bag in win

Arias went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 10-4 win over the Angels.

Arias had gone 5-for-34 (.147) over his first 14 games in May, so it's no surprise his playing time has been sparse lately. His last multi-hit effort was April 20. The 24-year-old is sporting a poor .224/.248/.337 slash line with one home run, four steals, nine RBI, 10 runs scored, six doubles and a triple over 101 plate appearances in a utility role.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Smacks pair of two-run homers

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's victory over the Angels.

With his performance against the Angels, Ramirez collected his 24th career multi-homer game. The veteran third baseman also moved atop the RBI leaderboard, pacing the league with 49. Ramirez has been on an absolute tear in May, hitting .277 (23-for-83) with nine homers, 15 runs scored, 25 RBI, and three steals this month.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

Marlins' Jake Burger: Homers in win

Burger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 3-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Burger has gone 8-for-63 (.127) over 16 games since he returned from an oblique injury, with Friday's effort being his second multi-hit game in that span. He's yet to find a rhythm at the plate, and he was slumping just before the injury too. Burger is slashing .175/.211/.300 with four homers, 17 RBI, 11 runs scored and three doubles over 128 plate appearances this season, though he remains in a starting role for a Marlins team that has no plans to contend in 2024.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Yankees' Jon Berti: Exits with injury

Berti was removed from Friday's game against the Padres with an apparent leg injury, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Berti collapsed to the ground running out of the batter's box and was in visible pain after hitting a groundball to second base in the ninth inning. Athletic trainers immediately began tending to his lower left leg -- near his Achilles tendon -- and the 34-year-old infielder couldn't put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field. The Yankees will presumably take Berti in for imaging, and it's very possible he requires a trip to the injured list.
