Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Salvages day with late homer
Riley went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
After striking out in two of his first three at-bats, RIley came through for Atlanta with a two-run shot to give the team three runs of cushion heading into the ninth. He hasn't exactly been lighting up the box score in 2024, but Riley has consistently been one of baseball's best bats at the third-base position and should once again push for 30-plus homers.

Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Excels in start at second base
Sosa went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional run batted in Sunday against the Nationals.
Sosa made his first appearance in over a week, filling in for Bryson Stott -- who got the day off -- at second base. He delivered his first long ball of the campaign, tagging MacKenzie Gore for a solo homer in the fifth frame. He got only two looks at the plate, with Stott coming in to replace Sosa in the eighth inning. The utility man should continue to play sparingly, but he's a decent bat when in the lineup.

Zach McKinstry 3B | DET
Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Reaches twice in Sunday's loss
McKinstry went 1-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Athletics and is now batting .313 across seven appearances this season.
McKinstry isn't known as an offensive threat, but he's off to a strong start in his utility role. He started at shortstop Sunday with regular Javier Baez, who is batting just .154 so far, getting the day off. Baez will likely stick as the primary starter, though McKinstry could start to earn more playing time if he continues to reach base at a solid clip.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Diamondbacks' Kevin Newman: Sees immediate action
Newman started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Atlanta.
The Diamondbacks selected Newman's contract from Triple-A Reno after Geraldo Perdomo (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list. He'll require surgery and is expected to miss at least one month. Newman has experience all around the infield and could get starts against left-handers, as was the case Sunday. Blaze Alexander, another right-handed hitter, started at shortstop Sunday.

Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Big day at plate
Gelof went 4-for-5 including a home run and a triple with four RBI and three runs scored during Sunday's win over the Tigers.
Gelof entered Sunday's game with just five hits in 32 at-bats over his first nine games but finished just a double shy of the cycle while collecting his first home run and first four RBI of the young season. The home run was a three-run shot in the second inning that opened a five-run lead for the A's, as they cruised to a victory. The 2021 second rounder showed well last year in his first season in Oakland with a .267 average to go along with 14 homers and 14 steals over 300 plate appearances. With a full season ahead of him, a 20/20 season is well within the possible range of outcomes for the talented second baseman.

Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN
Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Moves to injured list
Kreidler (hand) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Kreidler was unavailable the past few days due to the injury and will now be sidelined for at least the next week. He was sent for medical testing Sunday, the results of which remain unclear.

Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN
Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Tending to hand injury
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Kreidler hasn't been available for Triple-A Toledo since Thursday after being hit in the hand by a pitch, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Hinch noted that Kreidler is undergo further testing as the Tigers look to learn more about the extent of the injury. The 26-year-old infielder went hitless in his first 10 at-bats of the season with Toledo before getting hit in the hand.

Graham Pauley 3B | MIA
Padres' Graham Pauley: Out of starting lineup
Pauley is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants.
Pauley has gotten three starts out of 11 games at third base so far this year but will sit out another amidst some batting struggles as veteran Tyler Wade will get his seventh start of the season. The rookie is currently batting .154 in 13 at bats this year, and he'll likely need to improve in order to see a larger share of the playing time at the hot corner.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Fields some grounders
LeMahieu (foot) fielded groundballs at third base Sunday but was still limited in his lateral movement, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
The veteran infielder recently took part in on-field batting practice and is now working in some fielding drills, but he's clearly still hampered by the non-displaced fracture in his right foot. LeMahieu will need to get to the point where he can move laterally with no issues before having a chance to see game action.

Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA
Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Out of Sunday's lineup
Madrigal is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Madrigal started the first two games versus Los Angeles and went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored. Christopher Morel will man the hot corner while Mike Tauchman receives a turn in the outfield Sunday.
