Marlins' Jake Burger: Exits with injury

Burger was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets with an apparent injury, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Burger had to be taken out of the game after making an error throwing to the plate in the third inning. The Marlins will take a look at him and should provide more details shortly, but Burger seemed to be grabbing at his quad as he left the field. He should be viewed as day-to-day for now.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Cranks first homer since return

Jung went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three total runs scored in Wednesday's victory over the Red Sox.

After missing six weeks with a fractured thumb, Jung is now 5-for-14 (.357) in three games since returning to the Rangers' lineup. While the injury may have hampered his Rookie of the Year odds, Jung's still had a breakout campaign, slashing .277/.324/.492 with 23 homers, 73 runs scored and 70 RBI through 475 plate appearances.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Back in lineup Wednesday

Baty (groin) is back in the lineup Wednesday at Miami.

Baty will start at third base and bat seventh versus the Marlins and right-hander Eury Perez after missing nearly a full week of action because of a mild left groin strain. Ronny Mauricio is covering second base for the Mets on Wednesday as Jeff McNeil patrols left field.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Returns to lineup

Machado (elbow) is in the designated hitter spot and batting fourth versus the Rockies on Wednesday in his return to action, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Machado has been out of the lineup a few times this month and has been limited to DH duty when he does play because of a nagging elbow issue which will likely require surgery eventually. He'll gut it out for this one, though.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Getting MRI this weekend

Lewis (hamstring) will have an MRI when the Twins return home for this weekend's series against the Angels, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

As Hayes says, this situation is still very much to be determined, as a hamstring strain could mean the end of Lewis' regular-season play. The Twins are off Thursday, and Kyle Farmer figures to be an everyday player in the short term, especially with Carlos Correa (plantar fasciitis) landing on the injured list Wednesday.
