  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Registers 11th steal

Gelof went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 8-3 loss to the Padres.

Gelof recorded his first game this month with just one hit -- he had seven multi-hit efforts and five hitless games to begin September. His power has taken a dip this month with six doubles and one home run over 13 contests, and this was his second steal in that span. Gelof is at a .268/.335/.516 slash line with 11 homers, 11 steals, 25 RBI and 33 runs scored through 54 games this season.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Rehabbing fractured tibia

Rendon (lower leg) revealed Friday that he was diagnosed with a fractured left tibia in August, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The injury had been called a bone bruise ever since Rendon landed on the IL in mid-July, but at least there is now a bit more clarity as to why he's remained on the shelf. Rendon just recently resumed baseball activities and seems doubtful to return to the Angels' active roster before the end of the season.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Angels' Mike Moustakas: Lands on IL with forearm strain

The Angels placed Moustakas on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left forearm extensor strain.

This could be a season-ending injury for the veteran infielder given where it lands on the baseball calendar. Kyren Paris has been brought back from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding roster move ahead of Friday's series opener against the Tigers.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Jumps to leadoff spot

Henderson is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Friday versus the Rays.

The 22-year-old has mostly been hitting second for the Orioles in recent weeks, with Adley Rutschman handling leadoff duties, but those two will swap spots in Friday's game against Tampa Bay. Henderson is slashing .319/.355/.625 over his last 76 plate appearances dating back to Aug. 28.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Sitting amid struggles

Garcia is not in the lineup Friday against the Astros.

Garcia has been useful in fantasy at times this season, but he is slashing just .212/.281/.294 over his last 96 plate appearances dating back to Aug. 17. Nick Loftin will start at third base for the Royals on Friday as left fielder MJ Melendez takes a turn in the leadoff spot.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Remains out Friday

Baty (groin) isn't in the Mets' lineup Friday against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Baty will miss his second consecutive start after being removed from Wednesday's game against the D-backs with left groin soreness. Ronny Mauricio will man third base Friday while Baty recovers.

  • Vinny Capra 3B | BOS

Pirates' Vinny Capra: Optioned to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Capra to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

The return of Henry Davis (hand) from the injured list will push Capra off the active roster and back to the minors. Capra has played in just nine games this season for Pittsburgh, going 3-for-18 with an RBI and three runs scored.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Smacks homer Thursday

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rays.

The blast extended Henderson's hitting streak to seven games. In that span, he's gone 12-for-32 with three homers and six RBI. He's lifted four homers in September and 26 for the year while slashing .259/.330/.500 over 135 contests. The rookie infielder has added 76 RBI, 89 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 26 doubles and eight triples, and he's been one of the Orioles' most consistent hitters in the second half.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Mets' Jonathan Arauz: Clubs pinch-hit homer Thursday

Arauz hit a three-run home run in his only plate appearance during Thursday's 11-1 rout of Arizona.

Pinch-hitting for Francisco Lindor in the eighth inning with the Mets already ahead by seven runs, Arauz put an exclamation point on the victory when Scott McGough left a splitter up in the zone and watched it sail over the wall in right-center field. It's only Arauz's eighth hit in 58 at-bats for the Mets in 2023, but three of them have left the yard as the 25-year-old infielder continues to display a developing power stroke after he socked 14 homers in 95 games for Triple-A Syracuse this season.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Belts 13th long ball

Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in a 10-2 win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Lewis gave the Twins a 2-0 lead with a fourth-inning solo shot and added another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. The rookie has just two hits in 15 at-bats over his past four games, but both have left the park, and he's racked up five RBI during that span. Lewis is slashing an impressive .300/.355/.530 with 13 homers, 46 RBI, 32 runs and five thefts over 217 plate appearances on the campaign.
