D'Arnaud (thumb) remains without a definitive timeline to resume full baseball activities, but Atlanta has growing optimism that he may be ready to return from the 60-day injured list in the first half of August, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

D'Arnaud continues to sport a cast on his left thumb after requiring surgery in early May to address a torn ligament, but that hasn't stopped him from getting conditioning work in. He was spotted on the field ahead of Sunday's game against the Dodgers taking part in throwing drills, though he wasn't able to catch while the cast was on his hand. Once d'Arnaud's cast is removed, Atlanta should have a better idea of when he might be ready to return to game action, but everything up to this point suggests that he's progressed quicker than expected more than a month after undergoing surgery.

Realmuto went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, two runs, two walks and one strikeout in Sunday's 12-6 win over the Nationals.

Realmuto has gotten on base in each of his seven games since returning from the 10-day injured list, and he extended Philadelphia's lead with his three-run blast in the sixth inning Sunday. Since returning from his hand injury, the 30-year-old has slashed .304/.452/.478 with a home run, six RBI and five runs.

McCann went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and two strikeouts as New York defeated San Diego 6-2 Sunday.

McCann was quiet at the dish until taking San Diego reliever Craig Stammen deep to center in the eighth to extend the Mets' lead to 6-1. Four of McCann's six home runs have come since May 29 as he's 10-for-21 with six extra-base hits during the seven-game hot streak.

Caratini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

After he was behind the plate for all nine innings of Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Mets, Caratini will be given a routine breather for the day game after a night game. Webster Rivas will catch starting pitcher Chris Paddack in the series finale.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Though Diaz will sit out the series finale, he may have at least temporarily supplanted Dom Nunez as the Rockies' No. 1 catcher. Diaz caught in each of the Rockies' previous three games, making two starts against right-handed pitchers during that time.

Contreras is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Giants.

Contreras will rest up Sunday after starting the first three games of the series in San Francisco. P.J. Higgins will get the start behind the plate, though Contreras could be an option to pinch hit later in the contest.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The lefty-hitting Narvaez will take a seat in the series finale versus Arizona southpaw Caleb Smith, allowing the righty-hitting Manny Pina to serve as Milwaukee's catcher.

Gomes (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Gomes' tight right hamstring will keep him on the bench for the fourth game in a row, but manager Dave Martinez said Sunday that the catcher's condition is improving, per Maria Torres of The Athletic. Alex Avila will get another turn behind the plate Sunday in his stead, but Gomes could be ready to catch Tuesday in Tampa Bay following the Nationals' off day Monday.

Barnes (ankle) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, but manager Dave Roberts said that 31-year-old will be available to catch the Dodgers' next two games if needed, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Los Angeles' decision not to bring up another catcher from the minors would seem to support the notion that the mild ankle sprain Barnes picked up in Saturday's game isn't anything that will cost him time. No. 1 catcher Will Smith will be back behind the plate for Sunday's series finale, but Barnes should be ready to contribute off the bench.

Stallings is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Stallings is getting some routine maintenance after catching each of the Pirates' last three games. Michael Perez will form a battery with starting pitcher Chad Kuhl in the series finale.
