  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Scratched from lineup again

Moreno (thumb) was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Cubs, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Moreno had been slated to rejoin the lineup after not starting in Tuesday's 12-11 extra-inning win due to a right thumb contusion, but he's been scratched for the second day in a row. He entered Tuesday's contest as a defensive replacement, but evidently swinging a bat still remains an issue. Consider the catcher day-to-day for the time being. Tucker Barnhart will once again fill in behind the plate.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Returns to bench Wednesday

Amaya is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Amaya will head to the bench after he started at catcher over the past two games while going 3-for-8 with two extra-base knocks, two RBI and one run. Yan Gomes will be behind the dish Wednesday, but he and Amaya look poised to operate in a timeshare for the foreseeable future.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Records first steal

Naylor went 1-for-5 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings win over the Red Sox.

This was Naylor's first steal of the year, which came on his second attempt. The catcher has struggled to get things going at the plate, hitting just .186 with a .653 OPS, two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored over 52 plate appearances. He plays against most right-handed pitchers, but Austin Hedges and David Fry continues to draw in for Naylor behind the dish regularly versus southpaws.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Late addition to lineup

Davis will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Mets.

The Pirates' initial lineup released earlier Wednesday didn't include Davis, but he'll end up making a third straight start behind the dish to close out the series in Queens. Joey Bart was scratched from the lineup to make room for Davis, though it isn't clear whether Bart was removed from the starting nine due to an injury or illness or simply due to a managerial decision.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Returns to lineup Wednesday

Moreno (thumb) will start at catcher and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Moreno was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 12-11 extra-inning win due to a right thumb contusion, an injury he suffered in Monday's series opener. The young backstop is now ready to roll now following a day of rest. Moreno is slashing .244/.358/.356 with no home runs and a 4:8 K:BB over his first 15 contests this season.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Moves to bench Wednesday

Davis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Davis is on the bench Wednesday for what looks to be a routine maintenance day while the series finale begins at 1:10 p.m. ET. Joey Bart will step in at catcher in place of Davis, who is hitting just .180 with a 29.5 percent strikeout rate over 61 plate appearances this season.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Jansen is being eased back into action following his return from the injured list Monday, as he's now started just one of three games since being activated. Alejandro Kirk will handle the catching duties in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Resting Wednesday

Campusano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Campusano is receiving some routine maintenance for a day game after a night game after he caught all nine innings of Tuesday's 6-3 win. Kyle Higashioka will replace Campusano behind the plate Wednesday.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: In Wednesday's lineup

Perez (groin) will start at catcher and bat cleanup Wednesday in the first game of a doubleheader with the White Sox.

Perez missed Monday's 2-0 win after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 left groin strain and had been slated to sit out Tuesday's contest before it was rained out. However, with another day of rest, Perez is back behind the plate for the afternoon game. Freddy Fermin will surely catch the second game Wednesday, but it's possible Perez could play first base or serve as the designated hitter in the nightcap.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Tigers' Carson Kelly: Losing work to Rogers

Kelly is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Kelly started behind the dish Sunday and Monday but will now take a seat for the second day in a row while Jake Rogers gets another turn at catcher. With Kelly stuck in a 1-for-17 rut at the plate over his last six games, he appears to have fallen into a timeshare with Rogers.
