Rene Pinto C | PHI
Rays' Rene Pinto: Belts two homers
Pinto went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Sunday's win over San Francisco.
Pinto drilled a three-run shot in the fourth inning and later tacked on a solo blast. They were his first two home runs of 2024, as well as his first multi-hit performance. The 27-year-old catcher boosted his OPS to .863 with four extra-base hits through 28 plate appearances.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Rehab assignment complete
Jansen (wrist) has completed a rehab assignment and could return to Toronto's lineup Monday, Mike Wilner of The Toronto Star reports.
Jansen could be back in the lineup as early as Monday. The Jays are looking for more offensive output from the catcher slot, as Alejandro Kirk is hitting a paltry .170/.259/.170 on the season.

Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Managing groin, hip issues
Perez was removed from Sunday's game against the Mets with left groin and hip injuries, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Perez started at catcher Sunday and went 1-for-2 with a double before being lifted from the contest after a collision at home plate. The specifics of the injury are unclear, so the 33-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener versus the White Sox.

Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Remains on bench Sunday
Ruiz (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Ruiz hasn't seen the field since April 8 while battling an illness, and his absence will continue Sunday. Riley Adams will receive another start behind the plate for Washington.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Resting Sunday
Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Moreno looks to be getting a routine day off after he caught the first two games of the series while recording a pair of base hits across seven at-bats. Tucker Barnhart will take on the catching duties in the series finale.
-
Martin Maldonado C | SD
White Sox's Martin Maldonado: Resting Sunday
Maldonado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Maldonado will get a breather in the series finale after he caught both of the previous two days while going hitless across six at-bats. Korey Lee gets the nod behind the dish Sunday.

Ben Rortvedt C | NYM
Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Heads to bench Sunday
Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Rortvedt will retreat to the bench after he started behind the plate in each of the Rays' last three games while going 2-for-9 with a walk. Though the 26-year-old may still be in a timeshare at catcher with Rene Pinto, the playing time has been tilting in Rortvedt's favor of late.

Rene Pinto C | PHI
Rays' Rene Pinto: Draws back into lineup
Pinto will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Giants, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Pinto is back in the starting nine for the series finale, but he had been excluded from the lineup in each of the previous three contests while Ben Rortvedt handled catching duties for the Rays. At this stage, Pinto appears to have moved into a timeshare at catcher, if he's not already being viewed as the No. 2 option behind Rortvedt.

Christian Bethancourt C | CHC
Marlins' Christian Bethancourt: On bench Sunday
Bethancourt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Bethancourt will head to the bench for the series finale as he remains part of a wholly unproductive timeshare behind the plate with Nick Fortes, who gets the starting nod Sunday. Neither backstop has cemented himself as the clear top option in Miami, as Bethancourt has reached base in just one of his first 23 plate appearances of the season, while Fortes has mustered a .266 OPS in 24 plate appearances.
