Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: On bench against lefty
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
The Mets are bringing a left-hander (Sean Manaea) to the hill for the third straight game, and the lefty-hitting O'Hearn has been on the bench for each of those contests. O'Hearn could be a candidate to replace starting left fielder Austin Slater or designated hitter Eloy Jimenez at some point during the contest once Manaea exits.

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: On bench again Tuesday
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Jose Quintana is the second straight lefty to start for New York, so O'Hearn finds himself on the bench again Tuesday. Eloy Jimenez is batting fifth as the designated hitter as the two continue to platoon the position.

Masataka Yoshida DH | BOS
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Homers off bench Monday
Yoshida went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in a loss to Houston on Monday.
Yoshida began the game on the bench but pinch hit for Connor Wong in the sixth inning. The 31-year-old came through with a big knock, swatting a two-run homer to left field to give Boston a two-run lead. The long ball also extended Yoshida's hitting streak to seven games, during which he's batting an absurd .632 (12-for-19) with two homers, six RBI, six runs and four walks.

Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: On bench Monday
Yoshida is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Houston.

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Taking seat Monday
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

Brent Rooker DH | OAK
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Two hits in Sunday's loss
Rooker went 2-for-5 in the Athletics' extra-inning loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Rooker had gone 0-for-3 with a walk in his return from the paternity list Saturday, but he upped his production Sunday by generating his fourth multi-hit effort of the last five games. The veteran outfielder is in the stretch run of what has turned out to be a career season, as he's already boasting a career-high 83 RBI and is just one home run away from equaling the 30 he belted in 2023. Rooker's .942 OPS is also far and away the highest of his major-league tenure when factoring out his initial seven-game cameo with the Twins back in 2020.

Justyn-Henry Malloy DH | DET
Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Sent back to Toledo
Malloy was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Malloy hasn't hit particularly well in his first taste of the majors, as he's maintained only a .217 average with a 36.3 percent strikeout rate in 204 plate appearances. He's also lost playing time due to the return of Kerry Carpenter, so the Tigers will opt for Malloy to continue his development in the minor leagues for the time being.

David Fry DH | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: Sitting again Sunday
Fry is absent from Sunday's lineup against Milwaukee.
Fry will sit for the third time in four games, with Steven Kwan serving as the designated hitter for Sunday's contest. Since Aug. 1, Fry is slashing .163/.217/.442 with four home runs and seven RBI across 45 plate appearances.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Receiving Sunday off
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
The 27-year-old missed one game due to hip tightness in mid-July but started the next 29 games and posted a 1.026 OPS with six homers and an 18:17 BB:K during that stretch. Alvarez will receive a well-earned day off Sunday as Pedro Leon gets a start in the outfield.
