Rafael Devers 3B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homers in loss
Devers went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 9-6 loss to the Yankees.
Devers brought the Red Sox a bit closer with a two-run shot in the seventh inning, but that's where an attempted comeback from an early 7-0 deficit ended. For Devers, the homer was his first in 13 games and extended a hit streak to five games. He was one of the hottest hitters in MLB for much of May, but the designated hitter entered Friday's contest with a .195 average (8-for-41) over the previous 11 games. Devers has 13 home runs and 56 RBI through 65 games this season.

David Fry C | CLE
Guardians' David Fry: Limited to DH for now
Fry is limited to designated-hitter duties while he continues a throwing program and progression, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Fry was recently activated from the 60-day injured list where he spent first two months of the regular season rehabbing from an elbow procedure he underwent last November. He's started three of the last four games and will serve as the primary DH against lefties. Fry will also get occasional starts against righties.

Fry went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Astros.
Fry struck out in his first at-bat before reaching base three straight times, including a solo homer in the sixth inning. In five games (three starts) since returning from the injured list, the 29-year-old has gone 3-for-10 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Angels' Jorge Soler: In Friday's lineup
Soler (groin) is starting in right field and batting fifth against the Mariners on Friday, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Soler was removed from Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to groin tightness, but it doesn't appear to be a lingering issue as he's back in the lineup for Friday's American League West clash. Soler has slashed .200/.279/.345 with two home runs and eight RBI in 61 plate appearances over his last 15 games.

McCutchen is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.
McCutchen's streak of seven consecutive starts comes to an end Friday, as he'll yield to Bryan Reynolds at DH. McCutchen is 0-for-11 with six strikeouts over his last three outings.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Nationals' Josh Bell: Getting night off
Bell is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.
Bell will get a breather Friday after making nine consecutive starts, as he cedes DH duties to Alex Call while Nathaniel Lowe starts at first base. During his nine-game starting streak, Bell went 11-for-33 (.333) with three homers and a 4:2 BB:K.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Drives in three
Rooker went 3-for-4 with one double, three RBI, three runs scored and one walk in Thursday's 14-3 victory over the Twins.
Rooker opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning of what turned into a blowout. The 30-year-old has been especially impressive over his past 15 games, slashing .373/.448/.610 with eight extra-base hits. On a struggling Athletics team, Rooker has emerged as one of the league's top power hitters with 82 homers since the start of 2023.

Starling Marte DH | NYM
Mets' Starling Marte: Hits fourth homer
Marte went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored during Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers.
Marte picked up his first multi-hit game since May, reaching in four of five plate appearances Thursday. That included his fourth home run of the season and first in June. The 36-year-old, who entered the game with just four hits in his last 17 at-bats, will hope this game can get him going as his current batting average of .240 in 104 at-bats is on track for the lowest of his career.

Ivan Herrera C | STL
Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Productive in Thursday's twin bill
Herrera went 3-for-7 with a two-run home run and a walk as the Cardinals split Thursday's doubleheader versus the Royals.
Herrera was the designated hitter for both games, which continues to be his main place in the lineup. The matinee was his first multi-hit effort since May 20, ending a stretch of 11 contests where he went a meager 6-for-38 (.158). For the season, Herrera is at a .333/.417/.578 slash line with six homers, 28 RBI, 18 runs scored and one stolen base over 30 contests. Even though he's slowed down with the bat in recent weeks, his spot as a near-everyday member of the lineup appears to be safe.
