Pederson is not in Friday's starting lineup against the Padres, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.

Pederson is slated for a night off with left-hander Eric Lauer set to toe the rubber for the opposition. Matt Kemp will shift to left field and Enrique Hernandez will man center with Pederson on the bench.

Belt had season-ending right knee surgery Friday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Belt went under the knife to clean up his meniscus, effectively putting an end to his 2018 season. He finished with a .255/.344/.415 slash line through 113 ballgames. Manager Bruce Bochy stated that Belt will be ready for the start of spring training.

Stanton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Stanton will head to the bench after starting the last 15 games and slashing .155/.254/.310 with 24 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances. The 28-year-old did hit a grand slam against the Red Sox on Thursday, which hopefully helps him break out of the September slump.

Stanton went 1-for-3 with two walks and a grand slam Thursday against the Red Sox.

Stanton took Heath Hembree deep in the fourth inning to record his 35th home run of the season. He had entered Thursday's action just 12-for-92 across his last 24 games, though he still has the chance to surpass 35 homers for the fourth time in his nine-year career.

Brantley went 3-for-6 with a home run, a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's loss to the White Sox.

Brantley's wonderful comeback 2018 campaign continues, and he's now up to 17 long balls and 11 stolen bases with an .834 OPS. He's batting .333 (18-for-54) in the month of September with three home runs and nine runs scored.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Belt's (knee) season is likely over, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Belt is on the bench for a fifth straight game as he continues to battle a recurring knee issue. While an MRI over the weekend revealed no structural damage, continued discomfort has prompted the Giants to send the veteran first baseman back to San Francisco for additional testing. He could undergo surgery in the near future. Either way, Belt figures to sit out the remainder of the season with the Giants out of playoff contention, leaving Austin Slater and Aramis Garcia to cover first base.

Pederson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Pederson will stick on the bench for a second straight game with another southpaw in Tyler Anderson toeing the rubber for the Rockies. Chris Taylor will once again start in left field in his place.

Belt (knee) is not in the lineup against San Diego on Wednesday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Belt will remain on the bench for a fifth straight game as he nurses a knee injury. In his place, Aramis Garcia will draw another start at first base. Consider Belt day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener in St. Louis.

Choi is out of the lineup versus the Rangers on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.

Choi will receive a breather on getaway day with left-hander Yohander Mendez on the bump for Texas. Dating back to the start of the month, Choi is slashing .283/.371/.642 with five home runs and 15 RBI. C.J. Cron will serve as the DH in his place Wednesday.

Carpenter is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Braves.

With the two teams playing a day game after a night game in the series finale, Carpenter will pick up some rest, affording Matt Adams a turn at first base. After closing out August with his 35th home run of the season, Carpenter has endured a power outage thus far in September. He's failed to go deep in the Cardinals' 17 games on the month, contributing only two extra-base hits in total while batting just .169.
