  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Idle Tuesday

Flores isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Flores will receive a day off Tuesday after going 1-for-3 with a strikeout during Monday's series opener. While he rests, Dominic Smith will get the starting nod at first base and bat eighth.

  • Ivan Herrera DH | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Rehab games coming this week

Herrera (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday or Friday and expects to be activated from the 10-day injured list upon resumption of play after the All-Star break, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Coming back from a strained left hamstring, Herrera ran the bases at full speed over the weekend and is able to do all other baseball activities. He will presumably remain on his rehab assignment with Memphis through early next week before returning to the Cardinals' active roster coming out of the All-Star break. Herrera was operating as the team's primary designated hitter before getting hurt, and he will be an everyday player between DH and catcher, once activated.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Lands on injured list

The Mets placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to July 7, due to a right knee bruise.

The veteran outfielder has been playing through the injury for a while, but the issue flared up after he started in the outfield Sunday for the fifth time all season. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte is expected to be back shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mets' Jesse Winker: Returns from injured list

The Mets activated Winker (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Winker was shelved for more than two months with a right oblique strain but is ready to roll after going 4-for-14 with a couple homers during a brief rehab assignment. The 31-year-old should be the Mets' primary designated hitter against right-handed pitching, especially with Starling Marte (knee) landing on the 10-day injured list.

  • David Fry RF | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Provides cushion in win

Fry went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-5 win over the Astros.

Fry provided insurance with a solo blast in the ninth inning, paving the way for Cleveland to snap a 10-game losing streak. He continues to be the designated hitter against left-handers, but Fry doesn't have a lock on that role. Since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list, he's batting .153 (9-for-59) with three home runs and five RBI over 26 games.

  • Brewers' Christian Yelich: Salvages day with late homer

Yelich went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 9-1 win over the Dodgers.

Yelich went hitless with two strikeouts in his first three at-bats before delivering a two-run shot off Julian Fernandez in the seventh inning. The round tripper extended Yelich's on-base streak to 19 games. During that stretch, he's 27-for-76 (.355) with five homers and three stolen bases.

  • Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Cracks homer, double in win

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Reds.

Ramirez extended Miami's lead to 5-1 with a 420-foot solo shot off Cincinnati reliever Brent Suter in the seventh inning. The rookie backstop previously notched his 16th double of the season off starter Brady Singer. Ramirez has been a solid performer through his first 65 big-league games, slashing .245/.291/.479 with 14 homers, 39 RBI and 35 runs scored across 275 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Still not hitting

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Santander (shoulder) has not resumed hitting but could do so "hopefully soon," Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Santander's progress from a left shoulder subluxation has been slow, as he's already missed nearly six weeks of action and still isn't ready to swing a bat. Once cleared to swing, Santander will need time to ramp things back up and is sure to require a rehab assignment before being activated. He is not eligible to return until late July after being shifted to the 60-day injured list last week.

  • Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Goes on family emergency list

The Guardians placed Manzardo on the family medical emergency list Monday.

By rule, Manzardo must miss the team's next three games and a maximum of seven contests. The Guardians could mix and match at designated hitter against right-handed pitching until Manzardo returns to the lineup.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Likely returning Wednesday

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that Yoshida (shoulder) will "most likely" be activated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Yoshida has played five rehab games between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, going 4-for-14 with a 2:2 K:BB. He is with the Red Sox in Boston and will go through a workout Monday and "probably" another one Tuesday, according to Cora, before being activated for his season debut if all goes well. Yoshida's role upon his return is unclear, as Boston has already been struggling to find regular playing time for all its outfield and designated-hitter options. Yoshida made three starts at DH and two in left field during his rehab assignment.
