Manager Dusty Baker said X-rays on Alvarez's left ankle came back negative after the slugger exited Tuesday's win over the win over the Diamondbacks, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

He appears to have avoided a serious injury after rolling his ankle while running the bases Tuesday, and Baker hopes Alvarez will "be ready in a couple of days." The 25-year-old shouldn't be expected to be in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale versus Arizona, and he'll then have Thursday's scheduled off day to rest up ahead Friday's series opener against Tampa Bay.

Harper went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's 2-1 loss against the Cubs.

Harper provided all the offense for the Phillies on Tuesday with an RBI double in the top of the sixth inning. He also led off the ninth inning with a base hit but was quickly erased after J.T. Realmuto grounded into a fielder's choice. The two-hit effort comes after Harper was just 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts in his previous five games. He is slashing .292/.371/.540 through 391 plate appearances this season.

Morel went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Phillies.

Morel grooved a first-pitch slider from Phillies ace Zack Wheeler for a distance of 374 feet to right field for his 15th long ball of the season. It was just his second homer in September despite seeing fairly regular playing time this month. The long ball was timely, as Morel is batting just .182 in 44 September at-bats with a 21:9 K:BB.

Alvarez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks with left ankle discomfort, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Alvarez hit a single and rolled his ankle while running to first base during the opening frame, but he was replaced by a pinch hitter during the fifth inning after initially staying in the game. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but the slugger could be held out of the lineup Wednesday regardless, especially with the Astros having a scheduled day off Thursday.

Winker (wrist) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rangers.

The veteran outfielder exited Sunday's contest with a bruised left wrist and will be sidelined for at least one game. Winker had X-rays come back negative and should be considered day-to-day until his status is updated.

McCutchen isn't starting Tuesday against the Cardinals.

After going 2-for-16 in the last series against Cincinnati, McCutchen will step aside Tuesday in order to let Keston Hiura serve as the Brewers' designated hitter. Hiura will bat sixth in the order.

Martinez went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and a second run scored in Monday's 14-8 loss to the Orioles.

Martinez launched his 13th home run in the second inning off Jordan Lyles. The 34-year-old outfielder/DH, who will become a free agent this offseason, is in the finishing stretch of his fifth season with Boston. It's been his least productive year with the Red Sox, and Martinez is not expected to return in 2023. Nevertheless, he's expected to start most of the final eight games of 2022.

Manager Aaron Boone said he is hopeful Carpenter (foot) could return during the team's final series against Texas, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Boone went on to say that the Yankees are "still a ways away from having an idea if that's going to be possible or not." Carpenter has been held out of action since the beginning of August with a fracture in his left foot. If he's unable to make it back for the end of the regular season, there is still a solid chance he can return to New York's lineup at some point during its playoff run.

Meneses went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Marlins.

The 30-year-old rookie put the Nationals on the board in the top of the first inning with the two-run drive to center field. The home run was his second in as many days and his 12th since being called up from Triple-A Syracuse in early August. With a .943 OPS through his first 200 big-league plate appearances, Meneses has likely secured a full-time role for the Nationals entering the 2023 season.

Triple-A Buffalo placed Horwitz on its 7-day injured list Sept. 18 with an unspecified injury.

Horwitz last appeared for Buffalo on Sept. 13 before he was shelved with the apparent injury. Since receiving a promotion from Double-A New Hampshire in early July, Horwitz has slashed .246/.361/.363 in 202 plate appearances with Buffalo.
