Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Unlikely to play Sunday
Martinez (back) is considered unlikely to play Sunday against the White Sox, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Martinez was scratched from the lineup for each of the last two games due to back spasms, and he'll likely remain on the bench for Sunday's series finale. However, the 34-year-old still appears to be day-to-day for now.

Buxton went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 9-2 win over Kansas City.
Buxton got the Twins off and running in the first inning when he connected for a solo homer off Kansas City starter Brady Singer, the first of five long balls allowed by Singer. It was the second homer in as many games for Buxton, who also singled for his third multi-hit effort in the last six contests. The 27-year-old is hitting .290 with 13 homers, five steals and a .938 OPS over 171 plate appearances in what's been another injury-plagued season.

Miller went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-1 win over Colorado.
The 31-year-old didn't start Saturday's contest, but he entered as a pinch hitter and hit his 18th homer of the year in the seventh inning. Miller is now 3-for-8 with three walks in his last three games. He's slashing .231/.327/.470 with 44 RBI, 47 runs scored and three stolen bases across 321 plate appearances. He's likely to continue in a strong-side platoon role at first base.

Harper went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over Colorado.
The outfielder provided some insurance with his seventh-inning missile off Colorado reliever Tyler Kinley. Harper has swatted 15 of his 31 homers this season since the start of August, a span of just 38 contests. He's riding an eight-game hitting streak that has boosted his slash line to .307/.420/.606 with 71 RBI, 86 runs scored and 12 stolen bases through 121 games overall.

Canha continued his stellar September with yet another homer Saturday. After hitting just .158 with two home runs in August, the Oakland outfielder has already cranked four homers in September and is hitting .286 over the course of 10 games.

Brantley left Saturday's game against the Angels at the end of the third inning with an apparent injury, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Brantley went 0-for-1 to begin Saturday's contest, but he was replaced in left field in the top of the fourth inning. The specifics of the left fielder's injury aren't yet clear.

A day after proclaiming himself team captain by taping a "C" onto his jersey, Belt kept the good vibes going Saturday with a three-run homer off Zach Davies that broke the game open in the second inning. The 33-year-old is currently riding a five-game hit streak that has seen him go 10-for-21 with three homers and seven RBI.

Martinez (back) has been scratched from Saturday's lineup against the White Sox, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Martinez was initially slated to return to action Saturday after missing Friday's game with back spasms, but he apparently didn't feel right during pregame warmups. Travis Shaw will enter the lineup as the designated hitter and bat eighth.
