  • Yohan Ramirez RP | PIT

White Sox's Yohan Ramirez: Summoned to big leagues

Ramirez was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Ramirez was claimed off waivers from the Pirates earlier this month but has yet to make his White Sox debut. He's posted a 3.67 ERA and 31:14 K:BB through 34.1 innings this season.

  • Trevor Stephan RP | CLE

Guardians' Trevor Stephan: Picks up win

Stephan (7-7) allowed two runs on three hits and struck out one over one inning to earn the win despite taking a blown save Thursday versus the Orioles.

Stephan allowed the Orioles to pull even in the top of the eighth inning, but the Guardians retook the lead in the bottom of the frame. It's been a rough September for the setup man -- he's allowed 12 runs (11 earned) over 7.1 innings across eight appearances. He has a 3.97 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 71:25 K:BB with two saves, 29 holds and eight blown saves through 65.2 innings overall.

  • Cionel Perez RP | WAS

Orioles' Cionel Perez: Disaster in eighth inning

Perez (4-2) allowed three runs on a hit, a walk and a hit batsman while failing to record an out Thursday, taking the loss versus the Guardians.

The Orioles rallied to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning, but Perez loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame before Jacob Webb allowed all three inherited runners to score. Prior to Thursday, Perez hadn't allowed an earned run since July 26, a span of 17.2 innings. He's now at a 3.68 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 43:24 K:BB with two saves and 10 holds over 51.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Mike Baumann: Sent packing to Triple-A

Baumann was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

He'd pitched each of the previous two days, so the righty is being sent out in favor of a fresh relief arm in Tyler Wells. Baumann won't be eligible for recall before the end of the regular season unless he's replacing an injured player.

  • Yoendrys Gomez RP | MIN

Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Called up for debut

Gomez was called up from Double-A Somerset on Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Gomez held a 3.58 ERA and 78:37 K:BB across 65.1 innings of work covering 19 starts with Somerset this season to earn a look with the big club. The 23-year-old right-hander will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. Luke Weaver is slated to start Friday's game versus the Diamondbacks, so Gomez could be needed to eat some relief innings.

  • Yankees' Wandy Peralta: Lands on IL with strained triceps

Peralta was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Sept. 19, with a strained left triceps, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Peralta hadn't pitched in several days because of the injury and now it will put an end to his season. The left-handed reliever was wild for the Yankees this year in walking 30 over 54 frames, but he still posted a 2.83 ERA, struck out 51 and notched four saves. Peralta will be a free agent this offseason.

  • Royals' Mason Barnett: Strong showing at Double-A

Barnett logged a 3.58 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 43 strikeouts and a 50 percent groundball rate in 32.2 innings (seven starts) for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Among the college pitchers the Royals have drafted in recent years, Barnett had the best statistical season while splitting time between High-A and Double-A. A burly 6-foot righty who turns 23 in November, Barnett leans heavily on his mid-90s fastball and mid-80s slider. He built up to 114.2 innings this year, so he won't face any workload restrictions in 2024 while having a chance to pitch his way to the majors.

  • Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE

Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Locks down 42nd save

Clase picked up the save Thursday against the Orioles. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning.

After the first two Orioles reached safely in the ninth, Clase rebounded to strike out his next two batters before coaxing a game-ending flyout from Gunnar Henderson. Clase remains the lone closer with over 40 saves on the year. He's allowed just one earned run in his last six outings (five innings), lowering his ERA to 2.97 with a 1.15 WHIP and 63:16 K:BB across 69.2 innings this season.

  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Blows save, takes fifth loss

Estevez (5-5) blew the save and took the loss Thursday against the Rays. He allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

Estevez immediately ran into trouble allowing the first two batters (Harold Ramirez and Yandy Diaz) to reach via singles in the ninth inning. He was unable to stem the tide and eventually allowed the game-winning run to score via a Manuel Margot single. Before Thursday, Estevez had thrown four straight scoreless outings dating back to Sept. 5, his last blown save. He has 30 saves and four blown saves on the year.

  • Michael Kelly RP | ATH

Guardians' Michael Kelly: Optioned to Triple-A

Cleveland optioned Kelly to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

This move opens a 28-man roster spot for Hunter Gaddis, who is starting for the Guardians on Thursday against the Orioles. Kelly had surrendered four runs -- three earned -- over his last two innings (two appearances) out of the Guardians' bullpen.
