  • Braves' Dereck Rodriguez: Called up Saturday

Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Rodriguez will join Atlanta at home after the team claimed him off waivers from Minnesota on May 15. The right-hander has appeared in one major-league contest in 2023, allowing one run on one hit and a walk over two-thirds of an inning against the Cubs on May 12. Rodriguez will slot in as an additional bullpen option for Atlanta, though he carries limited fantasy appeal.

  • Craig Kimbrel RP | NYM

Phillies' Craig Kimbrel: Records career save No. 400

Kimbrel walked one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 6-4 win over Atlanta.

The 34-year-old has yet to blow a save chance this season, and Friday's performance gave Kimbrel his 400th career save, putting him in an exclusive club with Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman, Lee Smith, Francisco Rodriguez, John Franco, Billy Wagner and Kenley Jansen -- who, in a nifty bit of synchronicity, also collected his 400th against Atlanta on May 10. Kimbrel's 5.68 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB through 19 innings this season are less than stellar, however, and he'll likely cede closing duties back to Jose Alvarado )elbow) when the latter returns from the IL.

  • Adam Ottavino RP | NYY

Mets' Adam Ottavino: Notches fifth save

Ottavino picked up the save in Friday's 5-2 win over the Rockies. He allowed one hit while striking out one over two-thirds of a scoreless inning. He did not walk a batter.

Ottavino put together a second straight scoreless outing after giving up three runs in 0.2 innings against Cleveland on May 21. While the veteran has had several solid outings this year, his 4.58 ERA is inflated largely due to three rough outings this month. The right-hander remains in the high-leverage mix but is behind David Robertson in the pecking order for saves.

  • A.J. Puk RP | ARI

Marlins' A.J. Puk: Throwing bullpen Saturday

Puk (elbow) will throw a 20-pitch bullpen session before Saturday's game against the Angels, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Puk continues to work his way back from nerve irritation in his left elbow. If things continues to go well for the southpaw, he could be back as Miami's closer around the start of June, but he also may need a rehab assignment before he's ready to return to action.

  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

    Phillies' Dylan Covey: Starting Sunday

Covey will start Sunday against Atlanta, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Covey was solid in his Phillies debut Tuesday, surrendering just one run through five innings as a bulk reliever while striking out six batters. His performance has earned him a promotion into Philadelphia's rotation, and another strong performance could ensure he remains there.

  • Tyson Miller RP | CHW

Brewers' Tyson Miller: Optioned out to Triple-A

Milwaukee optioned Miller to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Miller was lit up for four earned runs over two innings of relief in the Brewers' loss to the Giants on Thursday. Ethan Small will take his spot in the bullpen Friday.

  • Tyler Cyr RP | LAD

Dodgers' Tyler Cyr: Shifted to 60-day IL

The Dodgers transferred Cyr (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Cyr landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a right shoulder impingement, but a move to the 60-day IL ensures he will be out until at least the end of July. His spot on the 40-man roster will be filled by Zack Burdi, who was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Friday.

  • Zack Burdi RP | LAD

Dodgers' Zack Burdi: Claimed off waivers

Burdi was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday.

Burdi was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay this past Wednesday after yielding six runs -- five earned -- over four innings of relief. He holds a career 8.44 ERA at the MLB level, but maybe the Dodgers can work some of their magic on the 28-year-old right-hander.

  • Fernando Cruz RP | NYY

Reds' Fernando Cruz: Activated from injured list

Cruz was activated from the 15-day injured list by the Reds on Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Cruz missed nearly a month of action with a right shoulder strain but is ready to roll following a couple rehab appearances. He's posted a 6.59 ERA in 13.2 relief innings for the Reds this season, although that's come with 20 strikeouts.

  • Alan Busenitz RP | CIN

Reds' Alan Busenitz: Optioned to Triple-A

Busenitz was optioned to Triple-A Louisville by the Reds on Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Busenitz has allowed a couple runs over four relief innings for the Reds this month. He's clearing out to make room for Fernando Cruz's return from the injured list.
