Beede (3-4) allowed four earned runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out seven across 5.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Cubs.

Beede was burned by the long ball, surrendering three in his 5.2 innings of work. However, he still managed seven punchouts on the strength of 20 swinging strikes. He had been on a strong run of late, not allowing multiple home runs in any of his last seven appearances while also turning in five consecutive starts without surrendering more than three earned runs prior to Wednesday. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled for Tuesday at Philadelphia.

Clarke (3-3) allowed two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out seven across six innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Orioles.

Clarke turned in his first quality start since May 25, though he did still surrender two home runs. The effort may be enough to save his spot in the rotation, as Manager Torey Lovullo was quoted as saying Clarke's struggles were an "obvious concern" prior to the start. Through 51.2 innings on the season, Clarke has now managed a 6.10 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. He'll look to turn in another strong effort in his next outing, a tough matchup Tuesday at the Yankees.

Kimbrel allowed two hits with no walks or strikeouts across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Wednesday against the Giants.

After retiring the first two batters he faced without incident, Kimbrel surrendered consecutive singles. However, he got Brandon Belt to line out to end the game and notch his seventh save of the season. Since allowing five earned runs across his first 2.2 innings this season, Kimbrel has turned in eight consecutive scoreless outings. He still has a bloated 4.22 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, but has maintained his status as one of the best closers in the game with this strong stretch.

Sims (1-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Reds fell 5-4 to the Brewers, giving up five runs on three hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out five.

While the right-hander was stingy with baserunners, two of the three hits off Sims left the yard. With Alex Wood (back) seemingly close to returning from the IL, Sims and his 5.65 ERA are likely headed back to a long-relief role, or potentially even Triple-A.

Floro (neck) threw a simulated game Wednesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

He is out with a sore neck, but is eligible to return at the end of the month -- a feat he may be able to accomplish. Floro will work primarily in low-to-mid leverage situations upon his activation.

Webb still has tightness in his elbow and his return will be delayed, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Initially he hoped to only require the minimum 10 days on the shelf with a bone bruise on his elbow, but he is not recovering as expected. Consider him out indefinitely.

Holmes was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right triceps inflammation, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

He has given up 11 runs on 12 hits and five walks over his last six innings, so perhaps this explains why he has struggled so mightily of late. Koene Kela (suspension) was reinstated in a corresponding move.

Almonte was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to serve as the 26th man for the Rockies' doubleheader Wednesday against the Nationals, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Almonte will provide the Rockies with an extra long arm out of the bullpen for the twin bill before likely returning to Albuquerque on Thursday. Over 15.2 innings at the big-league level this season, Almonte has surrendered seven earned runs on 13 hits and seven walks.

Hoffman will enter the rotation and start Thursday against the Nationals, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

The Rockies will likely keep Hoffman available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's doubleheader, but don't expect manager Bud Black to call on him unless the team has already exhausted its other relief options. Though he'll at least avoid a start at Coors Field as he rejoins the rotation, Hoffman's lack of success at the big-league level makes him an uncomfortable lineup option in both DFS contests and season-long formats. Over 172.2 career innings, Hoffman has posted a 6.05 ERA (5.01 xFIP) and 1.59 WHIP.

Hudson (10-4) allowed three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts across 6.1 innings while earning a victory against the Pirates on Tuesday.

The Pirates scored three runs before Hudson recorded an out Tuesday, but that's all the runs the Cardinals' pitching staff yielded. Hudson has won four straight starts, and although his ERA has increased during the winning streak, he still owns a 3.61 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 109.2 innings this season. Hudson will be on the mound next at home against the Astros on Sunday.
