Kimbrel hit two batters and struck out two in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Mariners.

Kimbrel was a little wild, but he didn't let the extra traffic on the bases rattle him. After allowing just two runs (one earned) over 9.1 innings in June, he's off to a decent start in July, with this outing also being his 20th save of the campaign. Overall, he's at a 2.30 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 46:14 K:BB through 31.1 innings this year.

Helsley earned a save against the Pirates on Tuesday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Helsley was asked to protect a 7-4 lead in the ninth inning and did so on 17 pitches. He leads the league with 31 saves and has not blown a save chance since his first outing of the season. Through 38 innings, the 29-year-old owns a 2.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 47:16 K:BB.

The Nationals transferred Ferrer's (shoulder) rehab assignment to Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Ferrer appeared in one game in the Florida Complex League, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one batter in 1.1 innings. He'll now join Harrisburg in order to rehab against some tougher competition, though it's still unclear whether he'll report to the Nationals or Triple-A Rochester once he's activated off the 60-day IL.

The Diamondbacks recalled Hollowell from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

The right-hander was optioned to Reno after being claimed off waivers from the Rockies in mid-June, and he'll now receive his first look with the Diamondbacks. Hollowell made 26 appearances in the big leagues last year for Colorado and had a 5.88 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 32:18 K:BB over 33.2 innings.

Devenski signed a major-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday.

Devenski elected free agency Sunday after being pushed off the Rays' 40-man roster last week, and it didn't take long for him to find another gig with Seattle. He'll claim a spot on the Mariners' 40-man roster, though he'll begin his tenure with the organization at Triple-A Tacoma and serve as organizational bullpen depth after posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.58 ERA in 26.2 major-league innings this season.

Mantiply will start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

The veteran left-hander will serve as an opener for the second time this season and the fifth time in his career. Mantiply hasn't recorded more than five outs in an appearance this season and should hand things over to Ryne Nelson after an inning or two Tuesday.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Reid-Foley (shoulder) has yet to begin a throwing program, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Reid-Foley has been on the injured list since June 22 due to a right shoulder impingement -- the same injury that forced him to miss nearly a month to begin the season. Mendoza noted that it's possible the right-hander begins throwing Wednesday, but even if he does, it's unlikely he makes it back into the Mets' bullpen before the All-Star break.

The Angels placed Wantz on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to July 1, due to right elbow inflammation.

The right-hander was called up by the Halos over the weekend and presumably suffered the injury when he allowed a run over 1.1 innings Sunday versus Detroit. Wantz is without an officially timeline for his return but won't be back until after the All-Star break.

The Athletics designated Newcomb for assignment Tuesday.

Newcomb made just seven appearances last year for Oakland and it seems that it will be the same this year as well. After posting a 6.30 ERA across 10.0 innings in seven games for Oakland, the 31-year-old will be looking to be claimed elsewhere. In a corresponding move, Tyler Ferguson was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Tuesday that Bednar (oblique) has progressed to throwing from 120 feet and should soon resume mound work, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The right-hander was briefly shut down from throwing after he landed on the injured list June 23 with an oblique strain. Bednar will be eligible to be reinstated to the active roster soon, but he could spend more than the 15-day minimum on the shelf since he's yet to get back on the mound. However, he doesn't appear to be in for a lengthy absence and may be able to rejoin the Pirates before the All-Star break.
