Barria (hamstring) was activated off the injured list Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Barria will wind up missing just over the minimum 15 days with a hamstring issue. Working primarily as a long reliever, he owns a 5.67 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 79.1 innings this season, a far cry from the 2.61 ERA and 1.03 WHIP he managed in the same innings total last year. Jhonathan Diaz was optioned to clear a roster spot for his return.

The Cardinals list Woodford as their probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Padres in San Diego.

Before he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Monday, Woodford had been getting stretched out as a starter in the minors, covering no fewer than three innings in any of his last four outings. However, the Cardinals deployed him out of the bullpen against Milwaukee on Tuesday, when he struck out three over 2.2 scoreless innings. Though he'll be starting Saturday, Woodford will be taking the hill on three days' rest, so he probably can't be expected to cover the five innings he would need to hit to qualify for a win. Woodford will be taking the rotation spot of Adam Wainwright, who isn't scheduled to start this weekend but could work out of the bullpen if the Cardinals need someone to eat innings once Woodford exits the contest.

Garcia was charged with a blown save as a result of giving up one run on two hits and a walk against St. Louis on Friday. His only out came via a strikeout.

Garcia was summoned from the bullpen to begin the eighth inning with San Diego clinging to a 2-1 lead. The right-hander couldn't get the job done, allowing a run to score on a Paul Goldschmidt single and a Jordan Walker triple before he was able to record an out. Garcia was then lifted after issuing a one-out walk to Ivan Herrera, but Robert Suarez was able to retire the next two batters without allowing another run to cross the plate to save Garcia's ERA from further damage. After racking up 11 consecutive scoreless appearances covering 13.2 frames between Aug. 19 and Sept. 15, Garcia has now allowed three earned runs across his past three outings covering two innings.

Yarbrough struck out five and was charged with two earned runs on five hits and one walk over 3.2 innings in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Giants.

Yarbrough was one of two bulk relievers the Dodgers used behind opener Caleb Ferguson, who exited the contest after one inning. Right-hander Gavin Stone then came on and gave up three earned runs over 4.1 innings before Yarbrough finished out the contest. Since the Giants raced out to a 3-0 lead while Stone was on the mound, Yarbrough was spared the loss. Yarbrough now holds a 3.12 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 36:4 K:BB over 34.2 innings in 10 outings since being acquired from the Royals on Aug. 1.

Jackson struck out two and gave up no hits and two walks over one scoreless inning in his start in Friday's 7-5 win over the Reds.

Jackson had been serving as a traditional starter or bulk reliever for the better part of the month, but he was deployed as more of an opener in Friday's contest. Though the Pirates didn't disclose Jackson was dealing with any reported injury, he tossed just one inning before he was lifted from the contest in favor of Luis Ortiz, who covered 3.2 innings of long relief. The Pirates have been running out a six-man rotation of late, so it's possible that Jackson ends up moving to the bullpen over the final week and a half of the season if manager Derek Shelton feels the team can get by with five starters.

Vest (2-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits while retiring just a single batter to take the loss Friday against the Athletics.

Starter Sawyer Gipson-Long allowed just one run across five innings, but Vest couldn't keep it up in the sixth, and he ended up taking his first loss of the year out of the bullpen. Part of the damage was a home run by Brent Rooker, which was just the third long ball allowed by Vest this season across 45.1 innings. The righty has been solid overall with a 3.18 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, and he should get a few more opportunities to pitch before the schedule wraps up.

Clase (3-9) blew the save but picked up the win in Friday's 9-8 victory over the Orioles, giving up two runs on two hits in an inning of relief. He struck out one.

The right-hander had Baltimore down to its final strike in the top of the ninth inning before hitting Anthony Santander with a pitch, followed by a single, a wild pitch and a double. Fortunately for Clase, Cleveland had one more burst of offense left in it in the bottom of the frame. The closer leads the majors with 42 saves but also has an MLB-high 12 blown saves, with Colorado setup man Jake Bird being the only other reliever in double digits, and Clase's 3.18 ERA this year is nearly two runs higher than his 1.36 mark from 2022.

Cano (1-4) blew his sixth save of the season and took the loss Friday as the Orioles fell 9-8 to the Guardians, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning.

Both hits went for doubles, with David Fry's drive off the wall in left-center field walking it off for Cleveland. Since Felix Bautista (elbow) landed on the IL in late August, Cano has struggled as the main man in the Baltimore bullpen -- while Friday's blown save was his first in four opportunities as closer, he has a 6.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and poor 2:3 K:BB through nine innings, and he's given up a run in five of his 11 appearances during that stretch.

Hoeing surrendered nine earned runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out one over three innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 16-1 loss to the Brewers.

Though he was spared the loss -- which went to fellow reliever Steven Okert -- Hoeing was responsible for most of the damage that occurred in the Brewers' 12-run second inning. He was charged with eight earned runs in the inning, then gave up one more run in the top of the fifth before being pulled from the contest. After the ugly relief outing, Hoeing's season ERA jumped from 4.18 to 5.17.

Martin worked a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his third save of the season in a 3-2 win over the White Sox.

Two of those saves have come in the last week as Martin fills in for Kenley Jansen (COVID-19) as Boston's closer. The assignment is well-deserved -- Martin hasn't been tagged for a run since late July, reeling off 20 straight scoreless appearances and adding a win and seven holds to his ledger along the way. On the season, the veteran righty sports a scintillating 1.05 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 46:8 K:BB through 51.1 innings.
