Zerpa struck out a batter and allowed one run on one hit while working out of the bullpen in Saturday's 15-2 loss to the Mariners.

Zerpa had started in each of his last two appearances, but he was piggybacked in Tuesday's game against Oakland by Zack Greinke, who was eased back in his return from the injured list with a four-inning relief appearance. Greinke should be ready to take on a more traditional starting role the next time his turn in the rotation comes up during the Royals' upcoming series with the Pirates, so Zerpa appears to have transitioned back into a full-time relief role.

Pittsburgh recalled Bolton from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Bolton will return to the Pirates' bullpen ahead of Sunday's series finale against the Cubs. The 25-year-old right-hander has surrendered 11 earned runs on 20 hits and 11 walks in 11 major-league innings this season.

Chargois will serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher in Sunday's game against the Nationals, the Associated Press reports.

The Marlins will treat the series finale as a bullpen day, with Chargois expected to cover no more than an inning or two before exiting the contest. Bryan Hoeing worked 4.2 innings in his last appearance out of the bullpen Monday and could be deployed as a bulk reliever behind Chargois.

St. Louis placed Zuniga on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right forearm strain.

Zuniga has made only two appearances this season at the major-league level and could struggle to make it back before the end of the 2023 campaign. James Naile has been called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move to provide aid to the St. Louis bullpen.

St. Louis recalled Naile from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

Naile has posted an ugly 9.64 ERA in 14 innings of work this season at the major-league level, but the Cardinals need a fresh bullpen arm after having to place Guillermo Zuniga (forearm) on the 15-day injured list.

Silseth (head) was released from the hospital Saturday and hasn't been diagnosed with a concussion, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. "I think we avoided something serious, but with head injuries you always want to be cautious," Angels manager Phil Nevin said of Silseth.

Silseth was sent to the hospital for observation after exiting his start in Saturday's 5-3 win in the fourth inning, when he was hit in the head when teammate Trey Cabbage threw the baseball across the diamond. The right-hander was down on the field for several minutes before walking off under his own power, but he was still sent to the hospital, only to be discharged hours later. While Silseth appears to have avoided any concussion symptoms for the time being and is believed to be dealing with only a headache, he's still not guaranteed to make his next turn through the rotation, which would likely fall next weekend in Oakland.

The Dodgers optioned Hudson to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Hudson struggled with his command in a relief appearance Saturday at Boston and carries a 7.27 ERA in 8.2 major-league innings this year. Gavin Stone has been called up in a corresponding roster move to serve as the Dodgers' bulk reliever in Sunday's series finale against the Red Sox.

Soriano earned a hold against the Mets on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over two scoreless innings.

Soriano had worked exactly one frame in each of his past seven outings coming into Saturday, but he was tasked with covering two against the Mets with the Angels hanging onto a narrow lead. The rookie reliever was up to the task, retiring the side in order in the seventh inning and working around a hit-by-pitch and a single to keep New York off the scoreboard in the eighth. Soriano has emerged as a key piece of the Angels' bullpen since being called up in early June, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 44:20 K:BB over 32 innings while frequently pitching in high-leverage situations. He ranks second on the team with 13 holds on the campaign.

Robertson (4-5) took the loss and blew the save in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Nationals, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

Lane Thomas greeted Robertson with a triple to open the top of the ninth, and while he got erased at home plate on a fielder's choice, the veteran reliever never regained his focus. Robertson has not been the answer at closer for Miami -- since being picked up at the trade deadline from the Mets, he's stumbled to a 7.20 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 9:6 K:BB through 10 innings while blowing three of his seven save chances. Tanner Scott has yet to give up a run in August while A.J. Puk has thrived in a return to a setup role since Robertson was acquired, so it wouldn't be a surprise if manager Skip Schumaker shuffled around his high-leverage corps once again before the end of the season.

Finnegan gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his 24th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins.

The right-hander needed only nine pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch Miami, getting Jesus Sanchez to ground into a double play to erase his lone baserunner. Hunter Harvey got the save Friday after Finnegan had worked Thursday, but it's the latter that still looks like the primary closing option for the Nationals. Since his last blown save July 14, Finnegan has a sparkling 1.47 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB through 18.1 innings.
