  • Shaun Anderson RP | LAA

Angels' Shaun Anderson: Selected from Triple-A

The Angels selected Anderson's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Anderson will get his first look in the big leagues this season after turning in a 5.06 ERA and 1.56 WHIP across 37.1 innings in the minors. With Ryan Johnson being sent down to High-A Tri-City to make room on the active roster, it's reasonable to believe Anderson will work out of the bullpen while with the Angels, despite working exclusively as a starter this year. Ben Joyce (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Elvis Alvarado RP | ATH

Athletics' Elvis Alvarado: Recalled from Triple-A

The Athletics recalled Alvarado from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America reports.

Alvarado appears set to make his MLB debut in the coming days. Alvarado has thrown 15.2 innings out of the bullpen for Las Vegas this season, registering 12.6 K/9 and a 3.45 ERA. He was claimed off waivers from the Pirates back in January.

  • Derek Law RP | ARI

Nationals' Derek Law: Poised for mound work

Law (forearm) is slated to throw off a mound before the end of this week, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

It will be the first time he's thrown off the bump since he experienced a setback with his right forearm strain during spring training. Law will eventually require some rehab appearances, but it's unclear when he might be ready for those.

  • Nationals' Orlando Ribalta: Throwing bullpen session

Ribalta (biceps) will throw a 20-to-25 pitch bullpen session Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The bullpen session -- which will feature all fastballs -- will be Ribalta's first since he landed on the 15-day injured list with a right biceps strain nearly a month ago. He will progress to facing hitters before eventually going out on a rehab assignment if all goes well.

  • John Brebbia RP | COL

Tigers' John Brebbia: Activated from injured list

The Tigers activated Brebbia (triceps) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Brebbia missed three weeks of action with a right triceps strain but is ready to go after making a couple rehab appearances. He permitted just one earned run through nine innings before getting hurt.

  • Logan VanWey RP | HOU

Astros' Logan VanWey: Back in big leagues

The Astros recalled VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The right-hander was optioned to Sugar Land last weekend but will quickly rejoin the big club since Hayden Wesneski (elbow) is headed to the injured list. In his first taste of the majors earlier this year, VanWey made six appearances and gave up one earned run on 11 hits with a 2:1 K:BB over 6.2 innings.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Angels' Buck Farmer: Nabs MiLB deal from Halos

The Angels signed Farmer to a minor-league contract Friday.

Farmer was released by Atlanta last month after allowing five runs (four earned) with a 7:4 K:BB over 4.2 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett. He'll be assigned to the Angels' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now but should move up to Triple-A Salt Lake soon.

  • Bryan Hudson RP | CHW

Brewers' Bryan Hudson: Recalled from Triple-A

The Brewers recalled Hudson from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Hudson posted a 4.15 ERA and 9:9 K:BB across 8.2 innings with the Brewers earlier this season but showed better control at Nashville with no walks in four frames. He'll operate in middle relief.

  • Erik Swanson RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Cleared for rehab assignment

Swanson (forearm) was sent to the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate Friday to begin a rehab assignment.

Swanson had been slated to start a rehab assignment in late April before encountering a setback. However, an MRI on his injured right forearm came back negative at the beginning of the month and he's ready to give it another shot. Swanson is on the 60-day injured list and won't be eligible for activation until late May, even if his rehab stint goes smoothly.

  • Troy Taylor P | SEA

Mariners' Troy Taylor: Rejoins big-league bullpen

The Mariners recalled Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

Taylor has pitched well over his last seven outings between Tacoma and Seattle, allowing one run with a 9:1 K:BB over seven innings. He'll fill a middle relief role with the Mariners.
