Matt Manning SP | PHI
Tigers' Matt Manning: Strong again Friday
Manning went five innings and allowed just one run while striking out 10 for Low-A West Michigan in the Midwest League playoffs Friday.
Manning closed the regular season with by allowing just one run over his final 16 innings (three starts) and striking out 25. At just 19, Manning is a ways away from the majors, but he has a ton of upside and is someone to watch in dynasty formats.

Lucas Giolito SP | SD
White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Becomes latest victim of defense
Giolito (2-2) allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Giants.
Giolito became the second young White Sox hurler this week victimized by the defense behind him as Chicago booted three balls, including two by second baseman Yoan Moncada. Earlier in the week, Reynaldo Lopez's quality start was impacted by shoddy fielding. Giolito, who had come off two impressive starts, wasn't as good Friday, but also felt he was getting squeezed and was ejected by home-plate umpire Gabe Morales for arguing balls and strikes as he was pulled from the game in the sixth inning, according to Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. The right-hander next takes the bump Wednesday on the road against Kansas City.

Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI
Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Takes 13th loss
Nolasco (6-13) lasted just 3.2 innings after giving up four runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in a losing effort against the Mariners on Friday.
This was Nolasco's first loss since July 26 despite posting a 5.53 ERA over an eight-start stretch. The veteran has given up a homer in three consecutive starts and owns a 1.92 HR/9 through 29 starts, which ranks second among all qualified pitchers. Nolasco's dangerous pitching style doesn't bode well for his chances against a hard-hitting Astros lineup next Thursday.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Reaches dozen wins
Perez (12-10) allowed five runs (but just two earned) on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings and took home the win Friday night against the Yankees.
Perez very well could have had his fourth consecutive quality start if his defense had held up its end of the bargain. He is on some kind of roll right now, as Perez has now won seven consecutive starts with a 3,15 ERA over that span. That's all despite striking out just 26 batters in 45.2 innings. In today's game, it's rare to succeed while allowing that much contact, but Perez is making it work down the stretch in 2017.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Suffers 12th defeat of season Friday
Miley (8-12) allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings to take the loss Friday against the Indians.
Miley gave up a three-run homer in the first inning, before settling down and not allowing his final run of the evening until the sixth inning, but in a game in which the Orioles bats fell silent, he had no chance to post a victory. This was the first time in four starts that he allowed more than two runs in an outing, and despite the loss, he's been a solid fantasy option down the stretch. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Yankees.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Fires six shutout innings in Friday win
Clevenger (9-5) allowed no runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven across six innings to earn the victory Friday against the Orioles.
Clevenger was staked to a three-run lead in the first inning and follow that up by holding the Orioles' bats silent, leading to his ninth victory of the year. He's now held opponents scoreless in three straight starts, and he's having the type of hot streak that can help lead fantasy teams to championships. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Tigers.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Suffers seventh defeat of 2017 on Friday
Stroman (11-7) allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six across six innings to take the loss Friday against the Tigers.
Stroman gave up all of the damage when he allowed a grand slam to Nick Castellanos, while the offense was unable to score enough runs to take him off the hook for the loss. He's held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in six of his last seven starts, and despite having won just a single game over the past month, he remains as a decent fantasy starter. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Orioles.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Shut down for season
Rodon (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list Friday and will not pitch again in 2017.
The official diagnosis was shoulder inflammation. The plan is for Rodon to undergo further examination next week, likely an MRI, the results of which will determine his rehabilitation plan over the offseason. Rodon only managed to make 12 starts this year with a 4.15 ERA, but he flashed nasty stuff as he struck out 76 batters over just 69.1 innings.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Expected back next week
Paxton (pectoral) threw 40 pitches in a simulated game Friday and said afterward that he expects to start next week against the Rangers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Having made it through his sim game pain-free, Paxton now faces just one final hurdle -- a standard side session -- on his road back from a pectoral strain. He will likely be on a relatively strict pitch count in his first few starts back, but Paxton has been dominant when on the mound this season and most owners will want to deploy him right away.

Matt Manning SP | PHI
Tigers' Matt Manning: Gaining confidence at Low-A
Manning has been making strides with Low-A West Michigan and has been impressing his manager, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Manning got off to a rough start when he was promoted to Low-A in early August, but he's dazzled in his last two starts. The 19-year-old covered 11 innings in those games, giving up just five hits and no runs. He also struck out 15. "This kid has potential to be a front-end guy, and he's going to be pitching in some pretty big games for the Detroit Tigers," West Michigan manager Mike Rabelo said. Manning rates as the organization's No. 5 prospect, and while it'll be a while until he reaches the majors, there is a lot of upside here.
