Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Evens record with win Monday
Perez (8-8) evened his record by holding Oakland to two runs (one earned) on five hits, with one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings in a win Monday.
Perez got his act together nicely after allowing a run in each of the first two innings, and was rewarded with his first in nine starts. He seems to be clear of that rough patch after holding the opposition to exactly one earned run in three of those last starts, but still has just one road win in 2016. That doesn't bode well for his chances Sunday in Tampa Bay.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Rays' Drew Smyly: Dominates for seven innings
Smyly (5-11) was dominant in a winning effort on Monday, allowing just one run in seven innings. He surrendered just one hit, walked two, and struck out four against the Padres.
Smyly allowed a first-inning homer to Alexei Ramirez and then proceeded to hold the Padres hitless for the next six innings. The lefty has had his share of troubles this season, but in his last five starts he has allowed a total of just eight runs. Smyly will try to keep his hot streak in tact when he takes the mound against the Rangers on Sunday.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Moving to bullpen
Clevinger will move to the bullpen Tuesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Despite earning his first major league win Saturday, Clevinger becomes the casualty as Danny Salazar (elbow) returns to the rotation Thursday. The rookie has a an unimpressive 6.35 ERA and 19:15 K:BB over five starts for Cleveland this season. Nonetheless, the organization has high hopes for Clevinger, so he'll continue to gain MLB experience as a middle reliever.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Will not start Tuesday
Paxton (elbow) is still experiencing forearm tightness and will not start Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Seattle has said that a DL stint is possible for Paxton; however, it would be made retroactive to when he last pitched, making him eligible to return Aug. 22. Before being injured, Paxton had been putting together a respectable season, posting a 3.53 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. Ariel Miranda will start in his place Tuesday.

Vidal Nuno SP | WAS
Mariners' Vidal Nuno: Great first year as full-time reliever
Nuno has allowed two runs over 12 innings and sports a 10:1 K:BB since July 1.
The 29-year-old southpaw has had a great first year out of the pen, posting a 2.86 ERA. His numbers would be even shinier if not for a nightmarish month of June (6.28 ERA, 1.81 WHIP); in no other month of this season has Nuno posted an ERA higher than 2.57 or a WHIP higher than 1.00.

JC Ramirez SP | LAA
Angels' J.C. Ramirez: Fighting first adversity with Angels
Ramirez has surrendered six runs on eight hits with just two strikeouts over 6.2 innings during August.
Ramirez had been a revelation since being claimed off waivers from the Reds on June 26. He posted a 1.20 ERA in July and started to see regular work in close games. Since the turn of the month, though, Ramirez has an 8.10 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
White Sox's Chris Sale: Allows five runs in loss Sunday
Sale allowed five runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings Sunday against the Marlins to take his sixth loss of the season.
He struck out seven for the second consecutive start, but suffered from a series of defensive miscues (including a few of his own. The five runs were Sale's most allowed in a start since the All-Star break, and he is now 0-4 since the beginning of July. Still, the ace lefty's season numbers aren't far off his sparkling career averages.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Strikes out eight in Sunday's win
Stroman (9-5) gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits over 6.1 innings while striking out eight in Sunday's win over the Astros.
Since the start of July, Stroman has kicked things into another gear, posting a 3.33 ERA and 55:7 K:BB in 52.1 innings over eight starts. Home runs remain a bit of an issue as he has a 1.4 HR/9 over that stretch, but as long as he keeps attacking the strike zone better results should come. His next start will come Sunday in Cleveland.
-
Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Plenty of run support in Sunday's win
Odorizzi (7-5) allowed three runs on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out six to pick up the win Sunday in a 12-3 rout of the Yankees.
The runs all scored on homers by Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez, but when you get that kind of run support you can afford to leave a couple of balls over the heart of the plate. Odorizzi's now won four straight decisions over six starts with a 1.66 ERA and 33:7 K:BB in 38 innings over that stretch, a stellar run that he'll try to keep going at home Saturday against the Rangers.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Hit hard in Sunday start versus Giants
Miley was hit hard in Sunday's loss to the Giants, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks across just 4.1 innings. He struck out one batter.
Miley allowed three runs over the first four innings, and he was chased from the game after allowing four men to reach with one out in the fifth, three of whom later came around to score. The results have been poor for Miley over three starts for his new club, as he has a 7.04 ERA, a 1.76 WHIP and an uninspiring 8:5 K:BB ratio since being acquired. He will look to stop the bleeding Saturday against the Astros.
