Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Tough-luck loser Monday afternoon
Gibson (0-2) took the loss Monday, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits in 5.2 innings against the White Sox. He struck out three and walked three.
Gibson was victimized by shortstop Eduardo Escobar's error in the fourth inning. The righty has struggled with control early this season, walking eight through his first two starts. Gibson struggled down the stretch last season, posting a 5.22 ERA after the All-Star break. He'll try to right the ship Sunday against the Angels.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
White Sox's Jose Quintana: Holds Twins to one run in win
Quintana (1-0) won his first game of the season Monday, holding the Twins to one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked three.
Quintana continues to put up good numbers while flying under the radar. Through two starts, he now has a 2.31 ERA and has struck out 12. The lefty has been the picture of consistency in his career, firing more than 200 innings with an ERA between 3.51 and 3.36 in each of the last three seasons. His next start will come Sunday against the Rays.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Tigers' Justin Verlander: Coughs up seven runs in loss
Verlander (0-1) got eviscerated by the Pirates on Monday afternoon, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings. He struck out two and walked two in the losing effort.
Verlander was supposed to start Sunday, but had his date pushed back after the rainout. The change in schedule could have had a bearing on the result, as Verlander was very strong in his first start of the season. The righty posted a 2.80 ERA after the All-Star break a season ago and should right the ship shortly. He gets his next shot this Saturday against the Astros.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Tosses two innings in rehab start
Gausman (shoulder) suffered a bruise on his left knee after getting hit by a comebacker in his rehab start at Double-A Bowie on Sunday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
In his first minor league rehab start, Gausman recorded a pair of scoreless innings while striking out two and walking one. After throwing 36 pitches Sunday, Gausman will likely need a minimum of two more rehab starts before he's ready to return to the Baltimore rotation.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Will throw another simulated game
Rodriguez (knee) threw 36 pitches in a two-inning simulated game Sunday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
Rodriguez came out of Sunday's outing unscathed, and his next step will be another simulated game Wednesday. As long as everything goes as planned that day, he could head out on a rehab assignment afterward.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Unlucky no-decision versus Seattle
Bassitt delivered a gem Sunday versus Seattle, going seven shutout innings while striking out four and walking five. He earned an unlucky no decision.
Bassitt struggled with his command a bit, but he was able to mitigate the damage and was unlucky not to have been supported by the A's offense who faced Felix Hernandez. Bassit rebounded well from a shaky first start of the season and he will look to further improve by cutting down on the free passes versus Kansas City on Saturday.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Posts quality start
Perez (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and five walks over 6.1 innings, but took the loss Sunday against the Angels.
After giving up a pair of runs in the third inning, Perez had already given up more runs than his offense would score the entire afternoon. Despite the loss, he's now posted quality starts in each of his first two outings, but he's only had a total of three runs of offensive support in those games. He'll make his next start Friday against the Orioles.

Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI
Twins' Ricky Nolasco: Pitches seven strong innings
Nolasco allowed one run on three hits while striking out five over seven innings, but received no decision Sunday against the Royals.
The only damage Nolasco allowed was a solo homer to Mike Moustakas, but the bullpen fell apart in the ninth inning and blew a two-run lead to leave him without the well-earned victory. Although he had to earn the fifth starter spot late in spring training, he certainly pitched a gem in his first outing of the season, and he'll look to continue the momentum in his next start Friday against the Angels.
-
Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL
Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Walks six batters in loss
Keuchel (1-1) allowed three runs on six hits and six walks while striking out eight over 5.2 innings, and took the loss Sunday at the Brewers.
Keuchel threw 37 of his 110 pitches in the first inning and walked four batters before settling down until his departure in the sixth inning. Unfortunately, the Astros were unable to give him much in the way of run support, causing him to pick up the loss. Although he struggled by allowing 19 baserunners over his first 12.2 innings this season, he'll likely get things turned around in a hurry. He'll make his next start Friday against the Tigers.

Vance Worley SP | NYM
Orioles' Vance Worley: Receives no decision against the Rays
Worley allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 4.2 innings, but received no decision Sunday against the Rays.
Worley was staked to a four-run lead, but ran into trouble in the fifth inning and had to be bailed out by the bullpen. Had he been able to finish the inning, he would've qualified for the win. He's been in a battle for the fifth rotation spot, and although he didn't have great outing, it should be enough for him to stay in the rotation for now. He'll make his next start Friday at the Rangers.
