  • Chris Paddack RP | TEX

Padres' Chris Paddack: Cleared to start Friday

Paddack (ankle) will start Friday's game against the Dodgers, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old was lifted from last Friday's start after two innings due to a right ankle sprain, but he'll be ready to retake the mound a week later after receiving a couple extra days of rest. Paddack has a 4-3 record with a 4.74 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 52:9 K:BB through 49.1 innings this season.

  • Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Strong in Tuesday's win

Gonsolin (1-1) allowed a run on four hits and struck out two over seven innings in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.

While he wasn't fanning many batters, Gonsolin did a good job of limiting baserunners. The 26-year-old now has a 1.51 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 35.2 innings across seven outings (six starts). Gonsolin should remain in the rotation a bit longer with Walker Buehler (finger) out. Gonsolin's next start is expected to be Sunday in Colorado.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Padres' Zach Davies: Falls to Dodgers

Davies (7-3) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk and struck out five over six innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Davies was a little less efficient than his Dodgers counterpart, Tony Gonsolin, and the former would be stuck with the loss. It's a third straight quality start for Davies, as well as his fifth overall. He has a 2.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 55:16 K:BB in 60.1 innings this season. The right-hander lines up to face the Angels next Wednesday in his next start.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Dominates A's in complete game

Senzatela (4-2) went the distance in Tuesday's win over the Athletics, allowing one run on six hits and a walk while striking out three.

Senzatela's only hiccup came in the second inning, when Tony Kemp's sacrifice fly scored Jake Lamb. The right-handed Senzatela threw 74 of his 109 pitches for strikes in his first major-league complete game. He lowered his ERA to 3.30 with a 1.15 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB across 62.2 innings this season. The 25-year-old's next start is expected to be Sunday at home versus the Dodgers.

  • Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA

Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Strong start limited by injury

Ynoa allowed two hits and had five strikeouts and zero walks over four scoreless innings against the Orioles on Tuesday before being lifted due to lower-back tightness, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

If not for the back injury, the 22-year-old would have returned for the fifth inning and the chance to earn the first win of his career. Outside of the Sept. 4 outing in which he gave up six runs, Ynoa has a 2.76 ERA in seven appearances (16.1 innings) this season, but he may not receive another chance as a starter with Cole Hamels (triceps) and Max Fried (back) set to return from the injured list this week.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Start pushed to Thursday

Nola's next start will come Thursday against the Mets, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Zack Wheeler (finger) has been unavailable for most of the past week but will be reinserted into the rotation Wednesday, pushing Nola's scheduled start back one day, though he'll still face the same opponent. Across his past four starts Nola has a 1.65 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 37:6 K:BB over 27.1 innings.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Starting Wednesday vs. Mets

Wheeler (finger) will start Wednesday's game against the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

The 30-year-old's status has been up in the air since he was scratched from his weekend start due to an issue with the nail on his middle finger, but he completed a bullpen session Monday, played catch Tuesday, and has been cleared to rejoin the rotation Wednesday. Wheeler has a 2.47 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB through 51 innings during his first season in Philadelphia.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Giants' Drew Smyly: Still starting Wednesday

Smyly will start Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

The poor air quality in Seattle caused a postponement of Tuesday's contest with the remaining two games being move to San Francisco, but Smyly will still start Wednesday as previously scheduled. The veteran southpaw worked as the bulk pitcher in his first outing off the injured list last week and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over four innings. Tyler Anderson was originally scheduled to start Tuesday but will now take the mound in Thursday's series finale.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Giants' Kevin Gausman: May start this weekend

Gausman (elbow) had an MRI come back clean and could start against the Athletics this weekend, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The 29-year-old was scratched from his previous start with right elbow tightness, but the MRI cleared him of any structural issues. Gausman figures to have a throwing session within the next couple days to determine if he's cleared to rejoin the rotation this weekend in Oakland.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Throws bullpen session

Quintana (lat) threw a bullpen session Monday and will throw another one Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Assuming Quintana's inflamed left lat continues responding well, he's expected to participate in a simulated game later in the week. He won't have time to build up to a starter's workload by the end of the year but has a chance to be activated in a bullpen role.
