  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Fans 12 in win

Lyles (4-1) struck out 12 batters and allowed one run on five hits and a walk in seven innings, earning the win in Friday's 5-3 win over the Padres.

Lyles' strong performance pushed his ERA down to 1.97 to go with a 1.05 WHIP in 45.2 innings this season. He's struck out 47 batters. Lyles has allowed exactly one run in his last three starts and will look to continue his dominant pitching at home versus the Rockies on Thursday.

  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Tosses up three homers

DeSclafani (2-2) allowed four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks across four innings while taking a loss against the Dodgers on Friday.

All of the runs DeSclafani yielded came off three home runs. Long balls have been an issue for the right-hander since the beginning of 2018, as he's posted a 1.9 HR/9. While DeSclafani's ERA (4.60) is better than it was a year ago (4.93), his HR/9 is a little worse (2.0 versus 1.9) and his FIP is virtually the same (4.84 versus 4.83). That doesn't seem to bode well for DeSclafani even maintaining an ERA of about 4.50. He is also 2-2 with a 1.24 WHIP and 50 strikeouts in 45 innings this season. DeSclafani will pitch again at the Cubs next Friday.

  • Rich Hill SP | KC

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Strikes out 10

Hill (1-1) threw six shutout innings while striking out 10 with no walks and two hits to earn a victory against the Reds on Friday.

The veteran lefty also needed just 84 pitches to record 18 outs, which is a pretty incredible feat considering 10 of those outs were of the strikeout variety. Hill missed about the first month of the season because of a knee ailment. Through four starts, this was, by far, his best outing of the year and his first win. He is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in 21 innings this season. Hill is scheduled to throw again at the Pirates next Friday.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Nabs fourth win

Hamels (4-0) allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings Friday in a win over Washington.

The Cubs spotted Hamels a three-run lead before the southpaw surrendered two runs in the third on a home run. He'd exit the game with a one-run lead, and Chicago would erupt for five runs in the eighth and four runs in the ninth on the way to secure a 14-6 victory. Hamels finally managed to snag a victory after taking four straight no-decisions. He owns a 3.13 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 54 strikeouts across 54.2 innings this season.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Early exit in loss

Mikolas (4-4) took the loss Friday, coughing up seven runs on nine hits over only 1.1 innings while striking out two as the Cardinals dropped a 7-3 decision to the Rangers.

Shin-Soo Choo and Rougned Odor both took Mikolas deep in a brutal second inning, and the outing tacked more than a full run onto his ERA, which is now a bloated 4.88. Mikolas will try to get back on track in his next start Friday, at home against Atlanta.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Stifles Brewers for sixth win

Fried (6-2) picked up the win in Friday's 12-8 victory over the Brewers, giving up two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings while striking out five.

The southpaw's performance is even more remarkable considering the final score, but Fried kept Milwaukee's bats off-balance for 79 pitches (50 strikes) before he checked out with a seemingly very secure 12-0 lead. He'll take a 2.86 ERA and 46:11 K:BB through 50.1 innings into his next start Wednesday in San Francisco.

  • Jon Gray SP | TEX

Rockies' Jon Gray: Saddled with fourth loss

Gray (3-4) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over 4.2 innings Friday in a loss to the Phillies.

Gray was spotted an early 2-0 lead, but he allowed a two-run blast in the third inning followed by a run in the fourth and two in the fifth prior to exiting. He tossed 98 pitches (61 strikes) but was unable to finish out the fifth inning. The 27-year-old right-hander has given up five runs in three of his last four starts, raising his ERA from 2.78 to 4.73.

  • Cole Irvin RP | LAD

Phillies' Cole Irvin: Notches second win

Irvin (2-0) picked up the win after surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out two over six innings Friday night against the Rockies.

Irvin earned himself another start after turning in a stellar outing Sunday, and although he struggled at times Friday night, he managed to come away with the victory. The southpaw allowed a run in the second and third innings before giving up a two-run homer in the sixth. It's unclear whether Irvin will remain in the starting rotation moving forward.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Stunned by Marlins

DeGrom (3-5) took the loss Friday, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on nine hits over five innings while striking out three as the Mets were downed 8-6 by the Marlins.

Miami snapped its 27-inning scoreless streak when Garrett Cooper ended a 10-pitch at-bat against deGrom in the third with a two-run single, and the right-hander never seemed to recover his confidence after failing to put Cooper away. He'll carry a 3.98 ERA and 67:14 K:BB through 52 innings into his next start Wednesday, at home against the Nats.

  • Austin Gomber SP | TEX

Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Lands on MiLB injured list

Gomber was placed on the 7-day injured list due to a biceps injury, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The extent of Gomber's injury is unknown at this time, though he'll be required to miss at least the next week while on the shelf. The lefty sported a 2.98 ERA with 52 strikeouts over 45.1 innings this season with Triple-A Memphis prior to the injury.
