Luke Farrell RP | WAS
Cubs' Luke Farrell: Designated for assignment
Farrell was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Saturday.
Farrell and Rob Zastryzny were removed from the 40-man roster to clear space for Terrance Gore and Taylor Davis. The 27-year-old has a career 5.17 ERA in 44.1 major-league innings, though his 3.64 ERA for Triple-A Iowa could be enough for another team to claim him off waivers.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Called up for stretch run
Woodruff was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday.
Woodruff will fill a long-relief role down the stretch, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Woodruff has a 4.80 ERA in 30 innings for the Brewers this season, a near match for the 4.81 ERA he posted in his 43-inning debut last year.

Sandy Alcantara SP | MIA
Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Called up to Miami
Alcantara was called up as part of a batch of September callups Saturday.
Alcantara made a single start for the Marlins earlier in the season, giving up a run on three hits and five walks in five innings against the Mets in late June. It's unclear whether he'll join the rotation or work out of the bullpen, though he's only been a starter for Triple-A New Orleans this season, posting a 3.89 ERA in 19 starts.
-
Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Done for season with shoulder strain
Lopez was placed on the 60-day disabled list Saturday with a right shoulder strain.
With just a month left in the season, the injury will shut down Lopez for the rest of the year. He'll end his rookie season with a respectable 4.14 ERA in 10 starts. Jeff Brigham, whose contract was selected from Triple-A New Orleans in a corresponding move, will take Lopez's place on the roster and in the rotation.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: Continues tear despite loss
Wheeler (9-7) took the loss against the Giants on Friday, giving up one earned run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out nine and walked none.
He was dealt his first loss in eight starts in this contest, but it was hardly his fault as Wheeler logged yet another brilliant outing in the losing effort against San Francisco. He's been on an absurd tear recently, giving him a 3.37 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP and 159 strikeouts, all numbers that have allowed him to provide unexpectedly solid fantasy value in 2018, a season after he posted an uninspiring 5.21 ERA in 17 starts.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Falls to 13-9
Greinke (13-9) took the loss against the Dodgers on Friday, giving up three earned runs on six hits over 7.1 innings. He struck out five and walked one in Arizona's eventual 3-2 defeat.
Greinke ended with a solid final line and worked deep into the game, but he was denied his 14th win as the Diamondbacks couldn't muster up much run support against counterpart Hyun-Jin Ryu. He's just 1-4 over his last six starts, but Greinke is putting together a fine season overall, with a 2.97 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP over 176 innings.
-
Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Strikes out five in no-decision
Ryu didn't factor into the decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday, giving up two earned runs on four hits over seven innings. He struck out five and walked none in the Dodgers' 3-2 victory.
It was a solid outing for the left-hander, but he wasn't able to pick up his fifth win of the season as Arizona starter Zack Greinke also pitched well. Ryu is still putting up great numbers over 52.1 innings this season, as he has a 2.24 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP and his holding opponents to a .198 batting average.

Antonio Senzatela RP | MIL
Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Takes loss despite solid effort
Senzatela (4-5) took the loss against the Padres on Friday despite a solid outing that saw him give up one earned run on four hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked one in the Rockies' 7-0 defeat.
It was a hard-luck loss for the right-hander, who was able to bounce back with a solid line after the Cardinals roughed him up for seven earned runs in 4.1 innings his last time out. He now has a 4.88 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 46 strikeouts over 62.2 innings this season.
-
Brett Kennedy RP | CIN
Padres' Brett Kennedy: Bags first win of season
Kennedy (1-2) got the win against the Rockies on Friday, throwing six scoreless innings while yielding just four hits, striking out two and walking two in San Diego's 7-0 victory.
The right-hander has now looked solid in three straight contests after giving up 11 runs in his first two starts, and he was rewarded with his first win of the season for this strong showing against a tough Rockies lineup. Kennedy still has a bloated 5.76 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP through his 25 innings, so he has a long way to go before he could be deemed a viable fantasy play.

Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Wins fifth straight
Gomber (5-0) got the win against the Reds on Friday, giving up two earned runs on 10 hits over seven innings, striking out three with no walks as the Cardinals prevailed 12-5.
Gomber keeps piling up the wins, as he's now perfect through five decisions over his last seven appearances since August 1, six of which have come in a starting role. He may have been a bit fortunate to only give up the two runs in this contest as he yielded 10 hits in his seven innings, but he did well to limit the damage and not issue any free passes, lowering his ERA to a solid 2.77 through 55.1 innings. He's scheduled to take the mound again on the road against the Tigers next Friday.
