Young (0-6) took the loss against the Athletics on Saturday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over three innings.

Five of the six runs Young surrendered came via the long ball, and he was pulled after just 74 pitches in his shortest outing of the season. Coming off back-to-back starts in which he allowed only two earned runs combined, the 26-year-old has still failed to complete five innings in eight of 10 outings this year. He'll take a 6.70 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB across 44.1 innings into a road matchup with Houston next week.

Burke (4-9) took the loss in Saturday's game against the Guardians, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven across 3.1 innings.

Burke's outing was highlighted by him striking out the side in the second inning, but he ran up his pitch count to 88 (55 strikes) despite not making it out of the fourth and wasn't able to get enough run support to avoid the loss. Burke has struck out at least five batters in eight of his last nine starts, and over that span he has a 3.53 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 43.1 innings. He'll look to get back into the win column in his next start, which is lined up for next weekend on the road against Kansas City.

Martinez (10-9) earned the win against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over seven innings.

Martinez allowed a run in the third inning but otherwise kept the Pirates in check, retiring 12 of the final 14 batters he faced. Since giving up 10 runs to the Marlins on July 8, the 35-year-old has gone 4-0 while holding opponents to two earned runs or fewer in six straight outings (five starts). For the season, he owns a 4.49 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 97:33 K:BB across 136.1 innings and will likely shift back to the bullpen with Hunter Greene (groin) expected to return next week.

Gordon, who last started Aug. 2 in Boston, appears to have been moved to a relief role with the Astros naming Jason Alexander their starting pitcher for Sunday's series finale against the Yankees.

Alexander has pitched more recently than Gordon -- he threw six scoreless frames Monday en route to his second win of the season -- so the fact that the right-hander is receiving the start over Gordon on Sunday suggests that the rookie lefty could work out of the bullpen moving forward. Gordon has posted a 7.36 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB in 14.2 innings over his last three starts.

High-A Aberdeen placed Gomez on the 7-day injured list Saturday with a lower-back strain, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Gomez gave up 11 earned runs in 6.1 innings over his seven most recent appearances in the Mets organization before getting traded to the Orioles at the deadline in the Cedric Mullins deal. Gomez has not pitched for the Orioles yet and logged a 4.63 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 48:25 K:BB in 35 innings across High-A and Single-A earlier this year. If he can throw more strikes, Gomez could be a late-inning arm in a few years.

Sasaki (shoulder) will begin a rehab a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Sasaki threw three simulated innings Friday without any issue, and he is ready to take the next step in his throwing program by starting a rehab assignment. Three innings is the target for the right-hander, who has been on the shelf since mid-May due to a right shoulder impingement. Sasaki will likely need at least three rehab starts before he's ready to be activated from the IL. In his eight starts prior to his injury, Sasaki posted a 1-1 record with a 4.72 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 24:22 K:BB across 34.1 innings.

Sasaki (shoulder) tossed three simulated innings against hitters Friday at Dodger Stadium, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Sasaki hurled 46 pitches in the session and touched 97 mph with his fastball, per Plunkett. The latter number is particularly promising, as the rookie right-hander is now right around the velocity he displayed prior to going on the injured list in mid-May. According to Sonja Chen of MLB.com, Sasaki could next begin a minor-league rehab assignment if he comes out of Friday's session without any issues, though it's also possible he could be asked to throw another live bullpen. Chen also relays that manager Dave Roberts indicated the team wants to see Sasaki be more confident in his delivery.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Cole (elbow) could be close to throwing, Peter Sblendorio of the New York Daily News reports. "I think it's soon," Boone said, "but I don't have an announcement."

Cole also stated Friday that he is scheduled to begin throwing this month and even said he has a tentative date in mind, though he didn't share what that date is. The veteran hurler underwent Tommy John surgery with internal bracing in mid-March and isn't going to pitch in games this season, though if he is indeed able to resume throwing in the relatively near future, it would increase optimism about his ability to be ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. At this point, however, it's up in the air whether Cole will have progressed enough by Opening Day 2026 to be on the mound for the Yankees.

Yarbrough (oblique) will face hitters either in a live bullpen session or in a minor-league rehab game Sunday, Peter Sblendorio of the New York Daily News reports.

Yarbrough landed on the injured list June 22 due to a right oblique strain. He was shut down from throwing until mid-July and has since been working his way back, advancing to bullpen sessions in late July and tossing his first live session this past Thursday. Manager Aaron Boone indicated Saturday that Yarbrough could throw in a minor-league game with Double-A Somerset on Sunday, but that it's more likely the lefty hurler will toss another live bullpen. In either case, Yarbrough is on track to be ready for activation in late August or early September.

Perez (elbow) allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out two across four innings in his rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Perez made his second rehab start as he works his way back from the left flexor tendon strain that landed him on the injured list in mid-April. The veteran southpaw didn't allow a hit until the third inning, and he was able to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fourth after yielding a run on a balk. Perez will make at least one more rehab start at Triple-A before returning from the IL, likely at some point in the back half of August.
