Griffin (4-2) took the loss Thursday against Cincinnati, allowing nine runs on seven hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out seven.

While Griffin did log seven or more strikeouts for the third time in his last four outings, it was otherwise a day to forget for the left-hander. Prior to Thursday, Griffin had delivered four straight quality starts, posting a 1.38 ERA over 26 innings in that span. His ERA is now up to 3.53 on the year with a 1.14 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB across nine starts (51 innings). Griffin will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Mets.

The Nationals optioned Kent to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

Kent allowed two runs over 2.2 innings in a relief outing Thursday versus the Reds. He threw 42 pitches in the appearance, so with Kent likely to be unavailable for a day or two, the Nationals will likely replace him with a fresh bullpen arm prior to Friday's tilt against the Orioles.

Dollander was lifted from Thursday's start versus the Pirates in the second inning due to right arm tightness, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Dollander's velocity was down a bit during Thursday's outing and he wound up being charged with three runs on five hits and a walk while recording only three outs. He will likely be sent for imaging on his pitching arm before more is known regarding how much time he'll miss.

Dollander was removed from Thursday's start against the Pirates due to an apparent injury, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Dollander surrendered three runs on four hits during the opening frame and exited with training staff after giving up a double and a walk to begin the second inning. The specifics of the situation aren't clear, and the right-hander should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Teng will be part of a six-man rotation moving forward, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Circumstances could alter the Astros' plans down the line, but Houston is planning to go with a six-man setup indefinitely. Espada said that he expects Teng -- who threw 63 pitches over three innings in a start Sunday in Cincinnati -- to be able to handle 80-to-85 pitches during his next start Saturday versus the Rangers. Teng holds a 3.12 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB over 26 innings covering two starts and 13 relief outings this season.

The Athletics acquired Suarez from the Mariners on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

Suarez had been designated for assignment by Seattle and will remain in the division after being shipped to the A's. The left-hander does not have minor-league options remaining, so he will join the bullpen as a long reliever.

Perez struck out two over an inning of relief Wednesday in Atlanta's 4-1 win over the Cubs.

After making his last two appearances as a starter, Perez has shifted back to the bullpen while Atlanta has scaled back its rotation from six to five men. Perez may not have to wait long for his next look in the rotation, however; rookie JR Ritchie endured another shaky start Wednesday, needing 87 pitches to record 13 outs. Though Ritchie maintains a shiny 3.32 ERA through his first four big-league outings, most of his other ratios (1.43 WHIP, 2.2 K-BB%) are poor and suggest that he's benefited from some good fortune thus far in terms of run prevention. If Ritchie's control problems persist in future outings, it wouldn't be surprising if Atlanta turned back to Perez as its fifth starter. The veteran has been a steady performer throughout the season with a 2.31 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 10.9 K-BB% over his eight appearances (five starts).

Reds manager Terry Francona said that Lowder (shoulder) will resume throwing Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Lowder was given an injection in the injured AC joint of his right shoulder earlier this week and officially landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. The right-hander's absence could be relatively brief, but until Lowder is ready, the newly-signed Chris Paddack will hold down a slot in the Reds' rotation.

The Reds list Singer (foot) as their probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game in Cleveland.

Singer's right foot was struck by a 106.7 mile-per-hour line drive during his most recent start Tuesday against the Nationals, but he wasn't forced out of the game early and ended up taking a loss after yielding three earned runs on six hits and one walk over 3.2 innings. The right-hander underwent follow-up X-rays following the start that returned negative, and though he's still tending to some bruising to the foot, the issue doesn't look like it will keep him from making his next turn through the rotation. Though his health seemingly isn't a concern, Singer won't make for a dependable fantasy option heading into his 10th start of the season after turning in a 5.79 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB in 42 innings through his first nine outings.

The Marlins recalled Garrett from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

Garrett will start Thursday's game versus the Twins in place of the injured Robby Snelling (elbow) in what will be his first outing with the big club this season. The left-hander has been fantastic for Jacksonville in the early going, collecting a 2.30 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 32:15 K:BB in 31.1 innings. With Snelling facing a potentially lengthy absence, Garrett should have a spot in the Miami rotation nailed down indefinitely.
