  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Extends scoreless streak

Bassitt didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-0 extra-inning win over the Yankees, scattering three hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander dazzled once again, as Bassitt didn't allow a runner to get past second base as he extended his scoreless streak to 27 innings -- he hasn't let a runner cross the plate since the first inning of an April 30 outing against the Mariners. Bassitt tossed 66 of 97 pitches for strikes while delivering his seventh quality start of the season, and he'll take a 3.05 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 48:23 K:BB through 56 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is likely to come early next week in Tampa Bay.

  • Taj Bradley SP | MIN

Rays' Taj Bradley: Recalled for Thursday's start

The Rays recalled Bradley from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Bradley will return to the big club to start Thursday's series finale against the Mets at Citi Field. The young right-hander posted a 3.52 ERA and 23:2 K:BB over 15.1 innings covering three starts for Tampa Bay earlier this season. He's struggled since returning to Durham, but Bradley nonetheless warrants being rostered in the majority of fantasy formats. He will have a shot to remain in the Rays rotation for the duration of the season.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Strong start wasted Wednesday

Cole didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays, allowing seven hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.

The veteran right-hander was dominant for 104 pitches (70 strikes), generating 30 called or swinging strikes en route to his seventh quality start in 10 outings, but Chris Bassitt matched him goose egg for goose egg and the game was eventually left in the hands of the bullpens. Cole remains undefeated on the year at 5-0 and will take a 2.01 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 68:20 K:BB through 62.2 innings into his next start, which is likely to come early next week at home against the Orioles.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Start cut short by blister

Cabrera left Wednesday's win over the Nationals after only 79 pitches due to a blister developing on his right middle finger, Jordan McPherson of The Miami Herald reports.

The right-hander was putting together his best performance of the season, giving up two runs on five hits over five innings with six strikeouts to record his third win. It was the first time in his career Cabrera had lasted at least five innings without walking a batter, making the early exit that much tougher to swallow. He generated 18 swinging strikes, including nine against his changeup. "There were a lot of lefties in the lineup," Cabrera said after the game. "The plan was to attack them with the changeup inside, the curveball outside and the fastball up. That was the plan, and it worked today." Cabrera's next turn in the rotation is set to come early next week in Coors Field, so his fantasy GMs will likely be rooting for the blister to cause the Marlins to skip him, or at least delay his next outing until the team leaves Colorado.

  • MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX

Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Fans seven in Wednesday's loss

Gore (3-3) took the loss Wednesday as the Nationals were downed 4-3 by the Marlins, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out seven.

The southpaw tossed 60 of 93 pitches for strikes before exiting, but the Marlins were able to hit him hard when he was in the strike zone, with Jorge Soler's two-run homer in the fourth inning proving to be the biggest blow. Gore's 29.0 percent strikeout rate on the season remains encouraging, though it comes with an 11.5 percent walk rate. He'll take a 3.69 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 58:23 K:BB through 46.1 innings into his next outing, likely to come at home early next week against the Padres.

  • Kyle Bradish SP | BAL

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Sharp against former organization

Bradish (2-1) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits over 6.2 innings in a 3-1 victory over the Angels. He struck out five.

Facing the team that drafted him in 2018 before flipping him to Baltimore a year later in the Dylan Bundy deal, Bradish delivered his second straight quality start while firing 63 of 94 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has rebounded nicely from a rough outing against the Red Sox in late April, posting a 2.82 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB through 22.1 innings over his last four starts. He'll look to keep rolling when he next takes the mound, which is likely to come early next week in Yankee Stadium.

  • Angels' Griffin Canning: Gets little help in loss

Canning (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings as the Angels fell 3-1 to the Orioles. He struck out four.

The right-hander put together one of his better efforts since rejoining the big-league rotation, tossing 67 of 95 pitches for strikes, but the Halos couldn't get much going offensively against Kyle Bradish. Canning has lost two straight starts after winning two straight, and he'll take a 6.14 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB through 29.1 innings into his next outing, likely to come at home early next week against the Red Sox.

  • Corbin Burnes SP | ARI

Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Takes loss despite quality start

Burnes (4-3) took the loss against St. Louis on Wednesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings.

Burnes wasn't at his best Wednesday -- the eight hits against him were the most he's given up so far this season, and he yielded more than two earned runs for the first time since early April -- but he still managed to pitch effectively over six frames to notch his fourth straight quality start. However, the Brewers were unable to push any runs across the plate, resulting in their ace falling to 4-3 on the campaign. Burnes' numbers this season are quiet by his recent standards, especially in terms of strikeouts, as his current 8.0 K/9 would be the lowest of his six-year MLB career.

  • Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore: Shines in 2023 debut

Liberatore (1-0) earned the win over Milwaukee on Wednesday, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out six batters over five scoreless innings.

Liberatore was called up prior to the contest and given the difficult task of facing off against 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes. The lefty Liberatore was up to the challenge, blanking the Brewers over five frames while fanning six batters. His control was less than ideal as he issued three free passes, but he was able to escape every jam he got into. Given this strong outing, it's likely that Liberatore will get at least another turn in the rotation, which tentatively lines up to come on the road against the Reds.

  • Kodai Senga RP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Racks up 12 punchouts Wednesday

Senga allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out 12 batters over six innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Senga bounced back nicely after a poor start his previous time out, inducing 18 swings-and-misses against the Rays and establishing a season-high mark with 12 strikeouts. The Japanese hurler yielded just one run, but the Mets were shut out until the seventh, preventing him from picking up his fifth win. Senga has adapted pretty well to pitching in MLB, posting a 3.77 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 55:26 K:BB through 43 innings.
