Bobby Witt SS | KC
Royals' Bobby Witt: Back feeling 'pretty stiff'
Manager Matt Quatraro said that Witt, who is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, is still feeling "pretty stiff" as he continues to manage back spasms and tightness, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
The All-Star shortstop returned to the lineup Monday after missing one game due to lower-back tightness, but he was unable to finish the contest. Witt should be considered day-to-day for now, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Royals opt to give him a couple days off to recover since the injury is lingering. Tyler Tolbert is picking up a start at shortstop Tuesday for Kansas City.

Colson Montgomery SS | CHW
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Scratched from Tuesday's lineup
Montgomery (shin) was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
After fouling a pitch off his right shin Monday against the Rangers, the 24-year-old shortstop was initially penciled in to start Tuesday's contest. Montgomery will instead miss at least one start due to the injury and should be considered day-to-day with the bruise.

White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Included in Tuesday's lineup
Montgomery (shin) will start at shortstop and bat cleanup in Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Bobby Witt SS | KC
Royals' Bobby Witt: Held out of Tuesday's lineup
Witt (back) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Giants.
Witt returned to the lineup Monday after a one-game absence due to lower-back tightness, but he had to be pulled mid-game after aggravating the injury. There are no indications at this point that Witt might need a trip to the injured list, so for now he should be considered day-to-day. Tyler Tolbert is playing shortstop and batting ninth for the Royals on Tuesday.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Recovering from sore wrist
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said after Monday's 8-0 win over the Reds that Crawford was scratched from the lineup due to a sore left wrist, LookoutLanding.com reports.
Colt Emerson was a late addition to the lineup as a replacement for Crawford, whom the Mariners are viewing as day-to-day while he manages the wrist issue. Since coming off the injured list June 16 after missing time with a bruised right hand, Crawford has served as a near-everyday player while moving between third base and shortstop but has slashed just .190/.302/.240 over 28 games. Crawford could be in danger of fading into more of a utility role once Brendan Donovan (groin) completes his rehab assignment and returns from the 10-day IL.

Jay Harry SS | TOR
Blue Jays' Jay Harry: Pushing for promotion
Harry could be the next prospect in the Blue Jays' system in line for a promotion to the majors, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Acquired from the Twins in a 2024 trade for reliever Trevor Richards, Harry has had a breakout campaign after some offseason swing adjustments, slashing .316/.362/.560 with 13 homers and 15 steals across 75 games between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo. The 24-year-old's biggest selling point is his defensive versatility, however -- he's played both second base and shortstop this season in addition to all three outfield spots, and he has some experience at third base as well. If the Jays are sellers at the trade deadline, it could open up a spot on the 26-man roster for Harry to make his big-league debut and get a look in the super-utility role Ernie Clement previously thrived in.

Sebastian Walcott SS | TEX
Rangers' Sebastian Walcott: Raking since activation
Double-A Frisco activated Walcott (elbow) from the 60-day injured list July 17.
Walcott had been rehabbing at the complex all summer, so he needed only two official rehab games in the Arizona Complex League before getting activated at Double-A. He hit .500 with one home run and one steal in six rehab at-bats and has hit .364 with one home run and one steal in three games for the RoughRiders. Given that Walcott played 129 games at Double-A prior to 2026, he should get a quick bump to Triple-A in the coming days/weeks.

Johenssy Colome SS | ATH
Athletics' Johenssy Colome: Late to debut in DSL
Colome made his pro debut July 3 in the Dominican Summer League after being sidelined by a testicular injury to start the year, Mark Chiarelli of Baseball America reports.
One of the most highly-anticipated prospects from this year's Jan. 15 signing class, Colome hasn't generated the same buzz as classmates Luis Hernandez of the Giants or Angeibel Gomez of the Royals, as he was missing in action and is hitting .156 in a tiny 10-game sample since getting healthy. In this 45 plate-appearance sample, Colome's 5.1 percent swinging strike rate, 24.4 percent walk rate and five steals stand out as strengths, while his 52.2 percent groundball rate and .094 ISO highlight areas needing improvement.
