Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Getting rare day off
Perdomo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians.
Tuesday's game will be just the fifth Perdomo has not started since the start of June, but he could probably use a day off after going 3-for-22 (.136) over his last eight games. Sergio Alcantara will fill the shortstop spot in Perdomo's place.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Astros' Aledmys Diaz: Another multi-hit game
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Red Sox.
Diaz has been a regular in the Houston lineup of late, starting nine of the 13 games since the All-Star break. He's hit very well in that span, maintaining a .361 average with three homers, five RBI and seven runs scored. However, once Trey Mancini and Alex Bregman (personal) are plugged into the lineup, it may cost Diaz a significant amount of playing time.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Bound for Washington in Soto deal
The Nationals acquired Abrams, first baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit, left-hander MacKenzie Gore (elbow), outfielders James Wood and Robert Hassell and right-hander Jarlin Susana from the Padres on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Abrams recently exhausted his prospect eligibility, but at 22 years old, the lefty-hitting shortstop's developmental timeline fits in well with what could be a lengthy rebuilding effort for the Nationals. Though he's turned in an underwhelming .232/.285/.320 slash line over his 139 plate appearances in the majors with San Diego this season, Abrams' low strikeout rate (19.4 percent) and elite speed bode well for his chances of emerging as an impact big-league player as soon as 2023. He should get the chance to play on an everyday basis at shortstop for the Nationals for the remainder of the 2022 campaign, while Luis Garcia will likely slide over to second or third base to make room for Abrams.

Jorge Mateo SS | ATL
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Swipes bag No. 25
Mateo went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 7-2 win over the Rangers.
The 27-year-old is first in the American League and second in the majors with 25 steals on the year, three behind the Marlins' Jon Berti, but Mateo has been little more than a one-category contributor from a fantasy perspective. Through 95 games, he's slashing .215/.261/.372 with eight homers, 27 RBI and 38 runs.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Homers in return
Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-2 loss to Baltimore.
Seager missed the last three games with a leg injury and it was speculated he'd need a stint on the injured list, but he was back at it Monday despite not being fully healthy. He served as the designated hitter while Marcus Semien handled shortstop. The homer was Seager's team-leading 24th.
-
Trea Turner SS | PHI
Dodgers' Trea Turner: Smashes 17th homer
Turner went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a sacrifice fly in Monday's 8-2 win over the Giants.
Turner carried his hitting streak into August -- it's now at 19 games after his seventh-inning solo shot kept the streak alive. He's batting .346 (28-for-81) with six homers, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases during the hot stretch. The shortstop has maintained a fantastic .309/.352/.507 slash line with 17 homers, 18 steals, 75 RBI and 62 runs scored through 448 plate appearances this season.

Bobby Witt SS | KC
Royals' Bobby Witt: Will not start Monday
Witt (hand) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.
The injury Witt suffered Sunday when he was struck by a pitch is not believed to be serious, and according to manager Mike Matheny it is not even an issue. However, Matheny did note that Witt is getting a day as he works back from the hamstring injury that cost him time in late July. Regardless of the reason, Maikel Garcia will start at shortstop for the Royals on Monday night.
-
Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Slots into Monday's lineup
Seager (lower leg) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
It was reported Sunday that Seager could land on the injured list, but he is apparently feeling good enough not only to avoid an IL stint but to return to action one day later. Seager will hit second Monday night, but he will serve as the designated hitter rather than start at shortstop like he usually does.
-
Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Not part of Monday's lineup
Baez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.
Baez homered Sunday and tallied four hits over his last three games, but he will get a night off after committing two errors in Sunday's contest. Willi Castro will start at shortstop in Baez's place.

Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX
Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Plates three runs
Duran went 1-for-4 with a three-run double in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Angels.
After striking out in each of his first three plate appearances of the day, Duran came up clutch when it mattered most. With one out in a tie game in the top of the ninth, Duran stepped to the plate and delivered a bases-clearing two-bagger to help the Rangers take three of four from the Angels. The 23-year-old rookie has started in each of Texas' last five games and looks like he could handle a near-everyday role while Brad Miller (neck) is on the injured list and while Corey Seager (lower leg) is also at risk of being deactivated.
