Anderson will not start Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Anderson was originally expected to start every other game as he eases his way back from a hamstring injury, but he wound up being added to the lineup Friday because he wanted to test his hamstring on back-to-back days. He's evidently not ready to play in three consecutive games just yet, so he'll sit Saturday as Leury Garcia takes over at shortstop.

Wendle was added to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers after Taylor Walls was scratched for undisclosed reasons, radio broadcaster Steve Carney reports.

Wendle had originally been set for a day off against lefty Tarik Skubal. Instead, he'll serve as the starting shortstop and hit eighth.

Ahmed will sit for the third time in the last 10 games, during which time he has hit .179/.233/.321. Josh Rojas will start at shortstop in Ahmed's place, and Jake McCarthy will take Rojas' spot in center field.

Crawford went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-5 extra-innings win over Atlanta.

The shortstop's second-inning blast was his 21st of the year, matching his career high from 2015. Crawford also has career-best marks in stolen bases (10) and runs scored (69) while his 81 RBI puts him three away from his total in both 2015 and 2016. He's slashed .299/.373/.523 across 491 plate appearances in his age-34 season, and he's been even better in September with a .373/.475/.627 line in his last 14 contests.

Fletcher went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Friday's loss against Oakland.

Fletcher is not much of a run producer, and in fact, he had just one RBI in the entire month of September before plating two on Friday. The second baseman has been struggling of late and is hitting just .158 with a .414 OPS across 63 plate appearances this month.

Anderson went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored in Friday's 8-0 win over the Rangers.

Anderson was originally scheduled to be out of the starting lineup, a designed plan to limit the shortstop to an every-other-day pattern immediately following a stint on the injured list due to a hamstring injury. Anderson, who played Thursday, reported feeling well enough to go on back-to-back days, so manager Tony La Russa allowed it Friday, per Brian Sandalow of the Chicago Sun-Times. Anderson showed no hindrance when he scored from first base on Luis Robert's double in the fourth inning.

Franco (hamstring) looked good running the infield arc from first to third base prior to Friday's game against the Tigers, the team's official site reports.

The quickly-recovering shortstop also took batting practice and fielded grounders, making it a very good day's work in his bid to spend only the minimum time on the injured list. Franco is eligible to be activated Tuesday, and although the postseason-minded Rays may opt to hold him out a little longer, it appears the 20-year-old will have a chance to get in some regular-season at-bats in before suiting up for his first playoff series.

Adames (quadriceps) will participate in pregame workouts over the weekend before likely being activated from the 10-day injured list for Monday's game against the Cardinals, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Manager Craig Counsell said earlier in the week that the club was hoping to have Adames back at some point during the series against St. Louis, and now the Brewers have zoned in on Monday as the target return date for the shortstop. Assuming he's activated early next week as planned, Adames should resume his everyday duties at shortstop over the final two weeks of the regular season and into the playoffs.

Mondesi will sit Friday against the Mariners.

The Royals have been very careful not to overwork Mondesi since he returned from an oblique injury at the start of September. He's yet to start more than two games in a row in the field, with the team giving him frequent rest either as the designated hitter or on the bench. He'll occupy a bench spot this time around, with Hanser Alberto starting at third base.
